I write to avoid the boredom.
I write to keep up with grammers or I'll sink in the mud continiously.
I write because I am bad at writing.
I write to avoid talking too much.
I write ...better than I talk.
"Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath." -James 1:19
Translation: Listen much; speak little; stay cool. :thumb:

I know. When you write, you don't have those akward pauses while you figure out what to say, and you can edit it all you want before it comes out.

Personally, I read to avoid the boredom.

WOW Chloe, your'e so cool! You say you write for such great reasons that I never really thought that deeply into! *bows to cool Chloe*
sorry . . . got carried away . . .
I write because:
I like to put what is on my heart and has come to my imagination from God down onto paper so I can keep it always and share it with others. Maybe it may help someone or inspire someone else to do the same. I am not a great writer either, I can barely get my stories off the ground, but I love to be creative through writing and drawing and I just love to use my imagination! I love to write either stories, poems, songs, and such . . . just what is on my mind and heart at the time. It is a way of putting down my life and feelings at the time in a way that can be interesting and fun to read again later and look back on. I also like to see how I have grown from my last writings . . . Its also so much fun! ^_^

*blushing* gee, thanks. You're such a sweety, Belldandy, and you have such great taste in kawaii characters, too. ^_^

Thanks for your input Quiet Hood and Belldandy.

I love this fact in writing, Icarus. I'm always putting my foot in my mouth (awkward thing to see) and when I write I can go back and edit out all my lame misspeakings (I know it's not a word). Maybe I should edit my writing more too? LOL

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Forgot to add this in last post but I know what you guys mean! I write waaay better than I talk and I hate the long pauses when you're trying to think of what to say and the best wayto say it! I can get my thoughts across better on paper becuase there is more time to go over it and see where you went wrong.

Hee hee thanks for the compliments on my character tastes too Chloe! ^_^

I write because in writing I can dispell a burden not fit for an elephant and leave it on the page, only coming back for nostalgia.

I write because when I have to write on a work, I can plunge into a sea of depth and insight instead of a puddle.

I write because sometimes fiction's vision in the real world is 20/20 compared to life's non-fictional blindness.

I write because though other people can read it, I am alone to ponder the infinite possibilities of what that "it" is.

I write because some days cliches, cheesiness, parallelism, and someone trying to be profound really bother me.

Truthfully, I write because I believe that God gave me this means of communication to use to the best of my abilites so that in all things, I may strive to glorify His name. That said, I write a lot for myself at the same time. Most of my stuff only my closest friends have read, but even this in my opinion is glorifying to God. If He gave the gifts (in proportion, of course), then their use to the best of one's abilities is definitely glorifying to Him. That said, I need to write more.

Great posts, guys. ;)

My thoughts in the words of someone far wiser than I will ever be:

"Writing is a kind of repository and can help create a space for the accomodation of new thoughts and feelings. If you don't write those stories down, your heart will be filled up and broken by them."

-The Good Women of China

I write stories that I enjoy reading, since there aren't that many books out there about the kind of stuff that I like. (I also write novels, whee fun! ^^x) I also write for the glory of God, of course. ^^x
Heart of Sword's Rhapsody

Money, get away
Get a good job with good pay and you're okay
And all and all you're just another brick in the wall
Shoutin’ in the street gonna take on the world some day
But Bismallah will not let me go
Because I'll see you on the dark side of the moon

Tommy used to work on the docks
Union's been on strike
Bright eyes burning like fire
And exposing every weakness
However carefully hidden by the kids

Who will love a little Sparrow
Who's traveled far and cries for rest
Spare him his life from this monstrosity

I've seen a million faces and I've rocked them all
And if the band youre in starts playing different tunes
We will we will rock you
We will we will rock you!

Hmmmm. Why do I write?

A person's first book is their most personal, they say.

To sort of misquote CS Lewis: "I write the books that I want to read". Or at least that's the theory of it.

I write, mainly, for Christians.

But I also write to express myself and to do battle with myself, in a way. In my writing I challenge myself to whatever spiritual problem comes my way, and my main character (I'm writing a fantasy kinda in the style of "That Hideous Strength" of CS Lewis) experiences them. In my normal life I tend to press these issues aside (a very bad habit) and in the books I read as well as those I read I face these fears and concerns.

I also write to have fun. It's surprisingly a lot of fun.
