Name-LightUpTheDark (yeah, ok, I have a real name too... if only I could remember what it was...)
Age-21, yeah, you know. Too old to act like a kid. Too young to be taken seriously by adults...lol
Other things about me... you'll never know until you ask... so ask already!! And I'll even answer weird, random questions, like....

What are you doing right now? ( besides typing, obviously)
Well, firstly, I'm staring at the little clickable smiles and thinking about how if I had to stare at things like that all day, I'd go run out into traffic...ok, not really...the other thing I'm doing is sitting in the living room, laptop balanced crookedly on one knee, a pair of unplugged headphones around my neck. I don't know why I'm wearing them...but I found myself wearing them like this earlier today too...

Ok, so, you probably could care less what I'm doing. But you got to find out anyway...because it was my example... ask me some questions so I don't have to type to merely amuse myself, or I may do this... :waah!:

peace out, yo!!!

Ooh, you're from Ohio? Ever hear of Radio U?? Good radio station if ya' like Christian music!

Well, my favs are Ranma 1/2, Fruits Basket, Full Metal Panic, Galaxy Angel, Pretear, Scryed, Weiss Kreutz, Kiddy Grade, Kaliedo Star, Getbackers, Vandread, and Rurouni Kenshin. These are just my favs... I love lots of different series!!!

What got me started...lets see if I can remember back that far. Uh, bout 5 years ago, I had this friend. She was a year older than me, and had her own place, so I hung out there alot. She was REALLY into Sailor Moon, so often times, that's all we had to watch, so I got into it because I had to amuse myself some how. About the same time, I had a penpal who was japanese-american, and she was an anime fan, and she told me about these cool animes she watched, Ranma, and Weiss Kruetz....and the rest is history. I've been hooked ever since. I really hate Sailor Moon now, by the way. But more power to those of you who love it.... :mutter: :hits_self

What about you? Same ?'s.

Rock On!!

Dude. WHy didn't I just respond all at once.... why am I so der all the time...

anyway.

Yeah, I know the U. It rocks...but I live near Cleveland...so I can only hear the U when traveling... It makes me cry...I LOVE that station. We have NO christian rock station. But one of the christian stations around here DOES have a show called the X-ray on Saturdays nites from 9 to 11. Christian Rock is my fav. type of music. What type of music are you all into?

Sorry...I'll never use blue again...

Seriosuly, though. In response to when I became a believer...I've been a christian for 16 years, but I became spirit filled 8 years ago. Nothing too dramatic. Accepted Jesus in sunday school. I always thought I didn't have a very interesting testimony, but everyone says they like mine. It's a testiment of God's faithfulness. And it seems to speak alot to kids that are christians, but not really living the life.

And as for the last question...think I got them all... I've been to 5 different countries. Canada was a vacation, but my trips to Mexico, India, Nepal, and N. Ireland were all mission trips. Went to Mexico in 98, India and Nepal in 2002, and N. Ireland last summer. It was a blast. I'm called to missions, and I really want to go to China and Japan, but God's will be done, ya know?

Yeah, I rock. I'm an Ohioan!!! Yea me. I'm a native to the good old OH. No, I'm not in school. I work full time... :shady:

Yay! Another Ranma 1/2 fan! There's also a lot of Furuba fans here.

My dad's side of the family is from Columbus (specifically Grandview Heights).

Here's a question: When did you know you where called to missions, and how did you really know it was for you?

By the way, you should post some memoirs of those trips some time if you like. That'd be pretty cool.

Sure, ok. That sounds interesting. I'll start a thread someplace and write about all my crazy mission stories.

I knew I was called to missons when I was 14. I went to my first Aquire the Fire convention, and about drove my parents insane with my desire to go on a missons trip when I got back. It was all I'd talk about. I felt God had given me a calling to reach the world, and it is the Great commission. Anyway, they said I was too young, and I, very irately too, I might add, let up a little in asking them to let me go, but I continued to do my research into different misson oppertunities and stuff. I did kind of lose my zeal, though, after being constantly told no, until my old church's youth group decided to go to Mexico in 98. Our group never had a real youth yeader, and it instead was ran by 3 youth in our church. I was President and Treasurer... so as soon as I found out about it, I was going. Nothing short of the deliberate hand of God was going to stop me either. I'd been prophecied over several times before then too, and those prophecy's all re-confirmed my calling to missons. Anyway, to make a long story short, I knew after that trip I was definetly called to missons ( some things you just know, and God has shown me repeatedly that this is a true calling from him), but I thought I was meant for the more administratvie side of things. My senior year in High school, I was all set to go to college ( I'd been accepted by both of the ones I'd applied to) to go study missons, when God began working on my life and heart and showing me that I didn't need some degree to do the work of God. I went to Youth with A Misson 6 months after I was out of school ( worked in a meat market to raise my money for my training and trip with YWAM. Shows how willing I was to do what God had called me to do), and did a DTS with them for 6 months. And I guess you could say the rest is history.

I feel my calling now, is still the same, but is going in a different direction as I am lead by the Spirit to proclaim the gospel in an unorthodox manner.

Anyway, that's more or less the long and the short of it. Hope my answer was clear enough... Forgive the typo's... I rely heavily on my spell check...and this doesn't have that feature.

ANd in regards to the quote, yeah, I think I have it covered if my brain is making the right connection...sometimes, it backfires, or something...he he he

Totally. You have to be totally sold out, and willing to do whatever He calls you to do, no matter what you personally think about the issue. It's hard alot of time. The flesh wants to stand in the way. we want to stay in our comfort zone. But Jesus has called us out of it. This life is only temporary, anyway, but I know that there are still so many worries I have. And actually, it's all so carnal...so stupid when you really stop and think about it. WHen it really comes down to it, who cares how popular I am? Who cares what others think. I care what God thinks. He's the one who matters. I have to live my life in a manner worthy of Christ, ya know what I'm saying?

Y'know, I think it's really kewl that you're doing the missionary thing. It's not for me, but hey, we all have different gifts. As soon as I find what mine is...

I agree that popularity means zilch in this life, as we were all made for another. I've never been popular, and it hasn't bothered me. In fact, I'm kinda glad I'm not popular. If I was I probably wouldn't have become a believer, y'know what I'm saying? I think that's what happened to my brother...he's always been popular and I think he just kinda fell in with a bad crowd and threw his faith to the wayside.

And I have seen every episode/movie/OAV of Ranma there is! Never got into the manga though...

Yeah, I love manga. While I was still in school, ie.. when I was poor... I only read manga and watched Sailor Moon and whatever few anime's I could get from the library ( think stuff like Princess Moanoke, Gundum, Tenchi and Eva). Once I got a job though, I was able to buy my own stuff, which was nice. But I keep running out of room on my media rack...

What's your fav kind of pizza?

What's your fav kind of icecream-including serving manner, bowl or cone, toppings, etc.?

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

Hmm...fav pizza...I like surpreme...I like lots of toppings and cheese...

Ice Cream- Cordial Cherry, no toppings, in a bowl.

I'd go to Japan. See the land of anime first hand. Get some wicked cool anime stuff...see the sights, buy drawing supplies. Do some witnessing, spread the gospel... other place I'd want to go is China and smuggle bibles...

I've always wanted to visit Japan - and I will, too - but I doubt that's unusual here. Smuggling Bibles into China sounds a little more exotic, but at least it's for a good cause and suffering for Christ is gain, right?

It's great to read of your passion for the mission field.
