My cousin makes this rice with vegetables that is amazing.

Also, turkey and sweet potato casserole (with marshmallows).

How on earth did I forget about pumpkin pie?!?

I need to make a gluten free pumpkin pie --buying the gf pie crust is really expensive (as in $10+), so it would be cheaper to make my own from scratch.

Favorite food: Pumpkin pie. We usually do turkey, deviled eggs, some sort of salad, but this year we're doing steak, deviled eggs and butternut squash souffle- all things that I love and adore! ^.^

Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole, all with a completely unhealthy dosing of gravy.

No, I won't choose just one. They are best all together.

Generally pumpkin pie or sweet potatoes with marshmallows on them, though not sweet potato pie since that is a vile concoction of Satan himself.

Thanksgiving is the one holiday of the year I actually care about so I always manage to end up getting the good eats, even if it means driving to multiple houses.

It's not really on topic for this thread, but no, I don't really care all that much about Christmas. I'm not going to derail the thread with why, if you care to know you can PM me.

I take it you haven't worked in retail, have you?

Anyway, yeah, I'm kinda the same as Xeno, Thanksgiving is really the only holiday my family celebrates in the "traditional" way, so we make it good, with all the cousins and stuff packed in a single house for a day. There's always all sorts of baked sweets - I'm a big fan of pumpkin pie, and there's usually stuff like cookies and homemade almond roca. But for me, the real draw is dark turkey meat, I love that stuff. The white meat just kind of dries out in the oven, so I coat that in delicious, delicious turkey gravy; that way, it's all even!

Couldn't get it in England when I was over there studying, either. But that's because pie does not exist in England.

We're getting turkey this year, like always. We're also getting my mom's special potato salad (a recipe she got from my grandfather on my dad's side) and probably some other nice stuff too.

Turkey. White meat. I also enjoy the delicious, creamy mashed potatoes with gravy. MMMMMMMMMMMMM I want it now! So unlike the quickly-hardening, skin-filled potatoes we get at school. Yeck.

We also eat generic Laura Lynn black olives from the can. SOOOOOOOO GOOD! It's like the one time of year I get to gorge myself on black olives.

Yes, like for realz. Pies in England are something quite different- they're the crust filled with meat and veggies and are dinner. Pies that are desserts and filled with fruit or other sweet stuff is an American thing.

I still can't wait for the sweet potatos and the pies! Also sweet potato pie is certainly not of the devil. It may not compare to pumpkin pie, but it's still quite tasty.
