BEST dream you've ever had!

Postby bkilbour » Sun Oct 16, 2011 2:54 pm

Okay, so I saw (and posted on) the "worst dream you've ever had" thread.
And to tell you the truth, I thought it would be pretty cool to see some good dreams, as sparse as they are.

Example; One of my best dream I ever had was when I dreamed I was hanging out with my family, and Mizore from Rosario+Vampire was there (not sure why). We just hung out; no fights, no arguments, nothing - just pure enjoyment of family and friendship, plus a picnic on the base I'm stationed at. It was really nice :)

What's your best dream?

My best best dream is a secret :P. You can only find out if you know me and if you PM me.

My second best dreams were those in which I was lucid, because I wasn't an observer, I was making the decisions. I knew that was dreaming. When I'm lucid, if I'm being chased by villians, I've been known to do triple back flips from the third stories of shopping malls blind and land on my feet (did you know that gravity seems to be significantly weaker in dreams then in reality - I think gravity is something like 1/2 g). I've flown - I did the math and calculated that I hit mach 2 and gone well above cloud top, seeing an ocean of clouds beneath me, an amazing colored sky which glowed violet and bright pink from a moon that was also the sun which had literal visible neon flares which glowed in the sky. I've also tackled my own personal fears, going into locations that I fear the most (the attic in the upstairs bathroom always scared me due to seeing the eyeball there - now try getting the courage to walk in there in a dream and then climb into the attic above that that I've never once been in.) In that dream, I found that the attic was filled with eerie green glowing mushrooms, a slimy moss and really eerie music... but I could also get out by simply walking through a well lit door-way. Then there was that one storm dream where the storm clouds cleared out at night - I was shown a sky beyond anything I've ever seen in my life, filled with vibrantly glowing nebula clouds and stars that sparkled in various colors that reality pales in comparison to (I've come to view this dream as symbolic that once my depression clears, there is a beautiful life awaiting me - it gives me hope sometimes in the dark hours).

For a while, while I was depressed, I wanted to completely move into the dream world. I had heard of people who lived there for thousands of years by using their lucidity to slow down their perception of time. I didn't know if this was possible, but I thought it would be neat to try. After all - reality had lost all it's flavor and was literally killing me. The dream world seemed alive, I could feel the depths of my emotion there (whereas in reality, I was dead and numb) and I could even cry (I still can't cry - last time I pulled that off was last Christmas I think). But in any event, the dreamworld can be pretty awesome, but I'd rather bring my dreams into reality now then bring myself into my dreams forever.

One thing I've wanted to do for a while now is confront one of those massive nasty thunderstorms that seem to foreshadow my drops into depression. Every time I drop into depression, it's almost always foreshadowed by nasty dreams of thunderstorms. These things are wicked with lightning that constantly flickers and frankly they're terrifying. They are not your normal storms, something instinctively tells you to be terrified when you see them, it's like watching a black frothing cauldron of fire and death churn just off in the distance, and when it reaches you - if you're outside - you know it's going to mess you up bad time. Seeing it alone paralyzes you with fear. I've told myself that if I can ever remember to use them as a dream sign, I want to fly right up to them and ask them what the heck the stupid deal is. I have a feeling that there is something there that my mind wants to tell me, but I have to be able to face it first. By now, I should have been able to use them as a dream sign - that I haven't shows that I'm simply not ready for it yet. So much as these may seem to be horrible dreams and hence outside the realm of this thread, I believe that by facing them and my depression I could become a better human being, which would be pretty awesome.

My best dream?.... Huh. Any lucid dreams, like Dante said. But this one awesome dream I had was where I could fly, soaring above the clouds, letting myself fall until I was a foot from the ground before taking off again.
I could also water-bend in one of my dreams. That was epic.

Wow. You guys have cool lucid dreams. My lucid dreams consist of me going, "Oh, wait, this scary thing in front of me can't be real, because I'm dreaming." And then I usually wake up a little while after.

Hah, you have so much more control over your flight then I do. I can fly, often really high and really fast. Just don't stick any obstacles within a mile of me and I'll be fine - other-wise I'll crash straight into it. I think my flight controls are fly-by-wire and I keep trying to yank the control stick everywhere.

I never really control my dreams, ever, thoguh I do know when I'm dreaming as everything is darker, and stuff like...
HEY YOU have a wife now
you can dance

and stuff like... what... why does my mind do this to me?

I've had quite a few good dreams, actually. Typically ones where I could fly in one way or another. ('The Force', bird or fairy wings, and sometimes just... being able to fly, somehow. Or jump really really high.) They're pretty awesome.

Most of my other dreams are either really odd, or I forget them entirely.

I don't remember a lot of good dreams and I wish I could lucid dream. How do you activate that if you can?

You just sometimes realize you are dreaming, and just take over, altering physics and what you say and do. You can't really activate it.

I usually don't remember my dreams either. I guess my best dream was when I hung out with Hiei from Yu Yu Hakusho. I don't remember what we did though. I think we wandered around my town for no reason. xD

T.T I talked myself out of lucid dreaming once. I had recurring dreams about going to the library, and after I'd had 6 or 7 of these, the next time it happened I was like "Hmm, I wonder if this is a dream." So I pinched myself and nothing happened so I figured it must be real. xD

Also, you know your a book worm if you dream about the library. xD

I once had a dream actually this was a few nights back...I had a lucid dream were I slayed Hitler with the help of The Avengers and Abraham Lincon. I had a chainsaw. It was basically us raiding the island on D-Day.And Hitler had a mech and we beat him anyway. Epic win.

Dreams are TRIPPY

Postby Dante » Sun Oct 16, 2011 9:40 pm

WARNING: While I've never had a bad experience doing this, the very nature of the experience implies that doing this could lead to a nasty 'trip'. I don't want anyone to have a bad experience associated with dreaming, if things start to go bad, unlike drugs, just pull out of it and WAKE UP. Always realize that all of this will just be you dreaming, nothing bad is really happening to you, any monsters, or whatever you see are nothing more then figments of a very grumpy mind. Don't worry, we've all got monsters in our heads, but if you're finding that on a given night or what-not that it's turning out bad, just calm down and try to go to sleep the natural way... without getting lucid. You're likely to do just fine. But the below can be fun if you're looking to add a hobby to your life between 3-8 AM or if you simply wish to learn more about your body as you go to sleep... or if you just really like TRIPPY experiences. That is, if your body is anything like mine, when you try a WILD, it WILL be trippy. EXTREMELY TRIPPY. :wow!:

Furen (post: 1511002) wrote:You just sometimes realize you are dreaming, and just take over, altering physics and what you say and do. You can't really activate it.

This. Except altering physics would be really difficult. You can try to train yourself to do it, mostly by keeping a dream journal (revealing in it's own right) and then focusing that you're going to have a lucid dream at night... then hope you remember while you're dreaming. What do you have to remember to do? Check things, look at a reflection, your hand, a watch, letters... If you check your hand for instance and you have 12 fingers... here's your sign :P. If the watch keeps changing time every time you look at it, or you can't read the words on the newspaper... same. Welcome to the dreamworld, where upon inspection, nothing makes sense even though everything seems detailed enough to be real.

Likewise, if you wake yourself up at something like 3 in the morning, right before your normal REM cycles, you're more likely to remember when you enter them. If you're really really skilled with meditation though, the way to do it is with a WILD. That is, you stay awake while you fall asleep. That sounds like an oxymoron doesn't it? I've tried it over and over to no success - whatever part of me puts me to sleep, keeps realizing that I'm awake and refuses to let me pass from awake to dreaming.

Keeping dead calm and slowly letting yourself make that transition is hard enough, but it plays other tricks too. You're going from awake to asleep which means all of your senses start to transfer over. It's probably the most trippy thing you can do without drugs, because you SERIOUSLY get some insane hallucinations (because you've normally been unconscious through this, it should be one INCREDIBLE experience - it can teach you a lot about your body and the stages of sleep). Massive loud sounds or bursts of light are killers, they'll scare the heck out of you when you see them and send your pulse racing, waking you straight up. Other then that though, there are more subtle things, like hearing your parents call you - you get up annoyed that they're calling you in the middle of the night... only to realize that it was just a hallucination, you can be mad at yourself. Then there is your body, which at some point cuts off your ability to control it, don't freak out, it will come back when you wake up, but you are placed in a state of complete paralysis while entering the dream state - a place where you can't move your body. Period (which is good for obvious reasons. Also sometimes you might wake up before your body control is returned, don't freak out here either, it happens, just wait and eventually your mind will turn it back on). Only your eyes move - which is why it's called REM (Rapid Eye Movement), if you're wondering why a person's eye is twitching in their sleep, research shows that you're literally watching them move their eyes in the directions they're looking INSIDE the dream. People often say they don't dream anymore, but their eyes tell a different story - we just forget the dreams right after waking up. Another frightening thing is when you feel your heart rate drop - this happens naturally during the night as you relax, but when you feel your heart-beat come to a crawl (and let's face it, you're staring at the back of your eyelids, you're going to start to notice these things out of sheer boredom) then you might just panic. Once again, it's normal, you're body isn't going to kill you while you fall asleep - you just never notice these things until you try to ride in consciously.

Oh yeah, another thing. As you start to drift off, occasionally you'll get a 'hypnotic jerk', that is, your entire body will literally jolt as if a disgruntled police officer tasered you in the butt. If none of the other things wake you up, feeling your body undergo the equivalent of a giant knee jerk reaction CERTAINLY might. You may even think something lifted your bed up and dropped you... no - once again, it's just your body doing things without letting you in on them. It's natural. Why does it do it? That's an awesome mystery - but experiencing it is something else.

You can also see images, like the beginnings of dreams form, your belief that you're dreaming almost shuts off instantly once you start to skim the dream. Your senses merge, with the weirdest non-nonsensical things seeming to make perfect sense. "The jellyfish knows mathematics and if I stick the pencil in the toaster, it will solve that problem I had yesterday" becomes completely logical along with other visions that if they wake you, you'll realize they don't even make any sense at all (or even weirder stuff, like smells becoming a spoken language, or abstract ideas becoming people that talk to you - logical associations vanish. I'm not sure what associations are there, but I have a feeling that if I could remember them, there might just be some really deep stuff going on here)... if you can even frame them in an image or sense. Like I said, it's REALLY trippy. Dreams. My anti-drug.

Probably one of the most awesome things that happens are intricate geometric images and music that occasionally plays. It's not until you wake up and your mind quickly pulls the sound back into your subconcious that you realize that you've never heard it before and that you literally just wrote the next Mozart in your head without even giving it a moments thought. It's in dreaming that you come to appreciate the full spectrum of what your mind truly is just beneath the surface, the amazing potential within you becomes visible and it should really be rather inspiring. A few people, especially in the arts, have learned to tap their dreams and literally built entire professions out of them. I'm not that capable, but if I could put my dreams to work to solve things, I could likely do AMAZING things.

As far as when you get lucid? Control is difficult, it's almost a question of 'faith'. Literally - unless you completely believe to your core that it's possible, then it won't happen. I've flown all the time and know just how to do it - thus, it's nothing for me to fly, I just 'feel it' and up I go. The next thing I wanted to do was learn how to go to various worlds - that way my nights could turn into vacations. I've likewise tried to change how I looked. However, because I innately 'knew' that that wasn't true and I was trying to change it - it didn't work. I have since found out how to change worlds - you have to dive into water and swim until you break through to the other side - it kind of does a dream 'reset'. Don't worry about breathing, you can breathe underwater in dreams, just inhale. Unfortunately though, this just changes worlds, it's doesn't allow you to 'choose' the world you want to go to. One thing to watch out for though, is closing your eyes. I've done this in the past and I couldn't open them again, I was still dreaming but I essentially became blind and started to panic. Panicking is death because it ends the dream.

If the dream starts to blur, watch out because that's your mind telling you that you're about to prepare for the next REM cycle. When this happens in reality, you wake up for an instant, often times without even realizing it and then go back to sleep into a new dream. If you can catch one of these 'breaks' and calm yourself fast enough, rumor has it you can actually use these to jump into the next dream lucid. But to stop the current dream from ending, just spin as fast as you can in a circle. Silly isn't it? Yet for most dreamers, this will cause the world to clarify and you can continue to enjoy your dream... Heh heh, I'm going a bit to crazy here. I spent a lot of time researching this way back - mostly because I loved to dream. I really should get back into it, it seems to me like it was a lot of fun, for a while in life, I used to look forward to going to sleep each night. Every night was a chance, an opportunity to go on an amazing adventure. I typically remembered 2-3 dreams a night when I could remember them and one of those dreams was typically awesome.

Most of my more awesome dreams involve having a close relationship with a favorite actor or tv character. (≧◡≦)

Like in one of my dreams I went to a Doctor Who and met David Tennant and Tom Baker, and I'm pretty sure I developed a friendship with Tennant, but I'd forgotten my camera, so I was a bit bummed because I was thinking none of my friends would believe it. XD

OMG! I really wanna try lucid dreaming. I've only barely scratched in those though. I've only gained control of my dreams a couple of times in my life.

I do however remember dreams from all the way since I was a toddler. I don't remember all of my dreams, but I can guarentee you I remember at least one dream per age, if not five.

My dreams tend to be really weird, but I've had some pretty exciting and happy dreams before. I've had epic dreams of solving a mystery with Batman, or weird dreams of suddenly becoming pregnant, or simply wishful thinking dreams of marrying my crush(es). Recently, I had a dream I could talk to bugs. Apparently I inherited the talent from my father, who was helping us study them. We came across this one caterpillar who was on a journey to become a butterfly. My sister ask me what her name was, and the caterpillar said, "Naomi," then Naomi went on to talk about her diet and how she couldn't eat raspberry leaves because they were too high in sugar and cholestoral. Then she told me something about how "music was joy". I imediately thought of my boyfriend after that, and suddenlly he appeared. He asked me what I was up to and I said, "Just chatting with a caterpillar," and he was like, "Oh cool! What she say?" and I told him what she said about music, and he was like, "Awesome,"

:3 I've had other awesome dreams, a lot of which that inspired stories I'm planning to write. I've had a dream about a magic cave where statues you touched came alive, and portals to other worlds existed whithin the chambers. Twas fun! I hitched a ride on a dog. A small pugsly/beagle/terrier. XD! lol Oh! And the statues had messages near them that told you what they did. :3

I was really beautiful (the girl I usually imagine when I'm thinking of pretty), and Orlando Bloom dumped his girlfriend and married me because he fell in love with me. We went on a honeymoon in the tropics and everything.

I've never had a dream that amazing before or since.

Once dreamed I went on a date with Oscar Wilde.

It was bittersweet, 'cause he ended up getting arrested at the end, but he had the coolest attitude about the whole thing. He was like, "They're going to arrest me anyway, let's make it harder on them by running around town and having fun."

I don't always show up in my dreams though. If they're entertaining enough like I'm watching a movie, I try to remember them so I can use them as fiction fodder.

I'd say flying ones are always the best, especially since I control them! What's cool about my brain (or scary, take your pick) is that I can force myself awake if I don't like it. It's not even fall-off-a-building-and-go-splat waking up. If I'm bored or too many people want to kill me, I just tell my eyes to open, and the dream's over!

Lucid dreaming! =D I've only done it once or twice, but it's amazing. <3

Best dream ever: I dreamed I got I got a novel published and Stephen King gave me a trophy. O_o I don't know what he looks like or anything, but it was him, gosh darn it! D:

Then I woke up and realized it wasn't real, threw a hissy fit, and went back to sleep.
This shall be updated when I decide that I have something interesting enough to say! Until then, let's watch this little smiley guy slam his head into a wall!

I was running away from a scary monster until I tripped and started flying. I flew into the world of rainbows, cotton candy, gummy bears, and unicorns. I have pretty infantile dreams. Another one was that I married Vic Mignogna. That was awesome ;).
"And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus."
