Favorite Naruto Manga Character

Hold off any judgement of Sasuke until the issues in the later 100s. He was my favorite character for quite some time, but now that I understand him better (assuming he isn't bluffing at the moment) I find myself mostly annoyed with him. And yes, his collar is strange.

Tie for First: Rock Lee and Shino
Second: Shikamaru
Third: Naruto/Jubei (He looks sweet and you know he has to be bad-***)

I think his brother wears a pretty high collar like that too. 0.o Must be a Uchiha thing.

Speaking of Rock Lee, at first, he freaked me out with his looks (me being such a hopeless fangirl) but I've grown to like him very much. (Personality and character always wins over looks eventually, in my case) Heh...gotta love his determination, perseverance and enthusiasm. I really need that type of energy and motivation in my graduate research. XD

I can't remember the specific issue, but Kakashi does give him a talking to (after tying him to a tree). I don't think anyone will mind if I share these lines, but I'll spoilerize them anyway. This is all from memory, and subject to change based on translation.

I noticed something interesting though. Sasuke's collar is kinda .....erm huge. I can't help noticing his exposed neck and collarbone outlines (Do I make sense?) whenever I see Sasuke at various angles. Doesn't it make his neck more vulnerable? Oh well..

but about the part of that i need to read past vol. 100 to know how he really is...well is sasuke like mean at first then nice later on...or is it the opposite?!?
i havent read but 2 mangas and i have played the game. so i dont know much about him. but i think hes cute!!

Kakashi is 26. Interestingly enough, when you first see him you might believe he's an extremely developed upper level ninja, but he's actually only at a fraction of his potential. He has a lot of room to grow.

I was just about to post that I've finally concluded that Sasuke is a very confused boy. I feel like being nice to Sasuke today though. He's got no parents, a seemingly psychotic evil brother and intense pressure to be the best "oohhh...that's the genius ninja from the Uchiha clan." I would hate all that unwanted attention and expectations and having this mentality that the only way to prove the worthiness of your existence is to kill your brother. These kids are kids after all (14 [come on!] and are still growing up) and his circumstances really screwed him up. I suppose you could argue the same for Naruto but it's different.

I wonder, Naruto had Iruka, who did Sasuke have?

I was touched by that spoiler conversation between Kakashi and Sasuke. The strength that Kakashi displayed is well...amazing. What happened between Naruto and Sasuke before that conversation really bothered me. Gah, the great amount of insecurity and fear in Sasuke


Regarding Kakashi, I started to sense his limitations in Vol. 3 but it doesn't really matter to me. :shrug: He's still cool.

Also, I haven't read it all. I found out the above from a friend and read those chapters. Naruto is sort of a pain in the butt for awhile but later (around Anime ep 78) gets sweet.


Sasuke kind of gets of my nerves with the way he acts later on. Like... ninja-wise and tech-wise he's awesome, but personality kinda bothers me.

This is slightly off topic, but I wonder how far Naruto will go. If it actually goes all the way with Naruto to Hokage, there's going to be quite a few more volumes. He has a very long way to go (as per his "battle" with Tsunde).

I predict that Naruto will not be a Hokage yet when it finishes. I visualize an older Naruto (perhaps a jonin by then?) give his thumbs up to other fellow jonins. "I haven't forgotten my dream, I will be Hokage soon! Just you wait!!" as a last panel in the manga.

On another off-topic, I really wonder how Tsunade looks like as a 50 year old woman. 0.o

Even to Jounin, though, that will take a while (as per Kakashi easily stopping a certain fight I won't mention here). Unless, of course, Masashi does a time jump (as pioneered by Toriyama), which would make things far more probable.

Where does everyone think the manga will end? Orochimaru appears to be our major villain, and certainly everything is building up toward a confrontation. Of course, it's also possible that our shadowy Missing-nin organization is the true enemy, or some combination. If all this ends, however, and another saga begins it will feel a bit cheap to me...

I sort of agree with Mave's prediction. Either that, or it'll have a short epilogue-ish thing at the end that's way in the future, sort of like Shaman King had the Funbari no Uta stuff (though not at the end of the manga.)

1. Having a "10 years later..." or "20 years later..." type sequence, that shows what happened to all of the characters, as the last chapter could be a possiblity.

What with Orochimaru and the Akatsuki(or whoever), the manga will probably last quite a while. We have only actually met two members of that organization so far. I don't remember if the manga ever said how large a group they actually are.

Yeah. I can't say I feel too sorry for Sasuke (he's been a genius all his life... and in essence, Naruto's demon fox makes him a greater genius). However, the Chidori is every bit as lethal... probably more so, in that Kabuto survived a Rasengan and would have been fine if he'd had enough chakra.

Who? Is he the Sound-nin that fought Neji, or the one that was fighting Rock Lee? I don't know any of the Sound-nin's names, mainly because I've never cared...

Isn't Akatsuki controlled by seven people? I had gotten the impression that their numbers are mentioned once, but I cannot remember anything specific.

he's the guy who can manipulate his bones (chp.209-212)

I see. He certainly does have some creepy techniques (particularly the rib cage one). The biology of that is ludicrus, but I'm hardly counting. Then again, it's a bit more realistic in that we now know he can split his bones, which allows for a few techniques.

While he is an interesting character (in that he's a villain but displays heroic qualities such as loyalty), I'm still eager to see him get beaten. Hopefully by Rock Lee and Gaara.
