Some old PC game.

Now, I feel like saying in advance, that I am NOT a PC gamer. To me, there's nothing like the consoles...

But anyhoo, I remember as a little tike playing this claymation PC game called
"The Neverhood."

The history of the game's world was somewhat based on event of Adam & Eve.

Yes, I remember only seeing people play it. I've never played it myself. It came out in the late 1990's and was produced / conceived by Doug Tennapel and mostly funded my Steven Spielberg.

Tennapel, who is also a graphic novelist and creator of Earthworm Jim, is also an admitted Christian who puts a lot of Christian themes into his comic books.

He's also the creator / head animator for the TV show Catscratch.

Oh, yes, the Neverhood. I remember that from a while ago. It mostly doesn't run on newer computers, but I recently discovered that it runs on Wine, which is a compatibility layer to allow windows programs to run on unix-like systems. It's a little sad when an old Windows game won't run on new Windows computers, but will run on other computers pretending to be Windows.

But more to the point, the Neverhood is a really fun puzzle game. Just don't jump down the drain.

I have the game, and I've played a little of it, but I'm nowhere near finishing it. In part because it doesn't run very well on my computer. Sad, because it's pretty fun.

But if the rumors about a Neverhood movie are true, maybe we'll be seeing XP/Vista compatible re-releases sometime in the future.

The Neverhood is a pretty cool game. I beat it not too long ago, actually. The claymation is pretty sweet and the whole deal is zany and fun (including the strange music - remember the radio dish station that you could tune to various channels?) I never took the time to read everything on the hall of record (or whatever it was called) but some of the stories are hilarious. And yes, there are definitely influences from the Bible (the section about Quatar and Father on the hall of record is similar to Jesus and the Father).

It would be really cool to see something come of the Neverhood. I met Doug when he spoke at the college we both went to. We talked shop for a bit, and he seemed to be a pretty down to earth kinda guy.

Oh yea! Quatar and Father...I remember reading about them, too. I never finished reading the whole hall either.
That would probably be a good excuse to play it again! If only I still had that copy... I have no idea what happened to it.

Anyway, I remember the radio, too! It was funny, especially the "sound effect records." XD
