anime at Blockbuster?

Postby Tenshi no Ai » Mon Oct 30, 2006 8:34 pm

Well, apparently our town's Rogers (Canadian video rental company) is getting bought over by Blockbuster. It had full series such as Evangelion and FMA there (plus a bunch of random movies and stuff), but wondering what types of anime Blockbuster has? I remember seeing tons of Yuu Yuu Hakusho and a bit of Sailor Moon and Slayers movies there, but that was about it. Any other fullish series and stuff seen there?

The Blockbuster's that are near me, don't have much anime at all.

I hope that in you're case that they still keep as much anime as they have. But I wouldn't be too heart broken if they don't carry as much as you use to see.

I just remember being in a Blockbuster in a bigger city and noticing an anime section of its own (which Rogers had, but changed back to "Fantasy"), and not that it had a bigger selection, but a different one than ours. Too bad though, I was hoping to rent all of Eva and FMA one day :/ Well, apparently all the DVDs are one sale in the store so I'll go snoop around. I'll try my hardest not to actually buy anything unless the price is SO insane... It is the same store too where they decided to sell their .hack//SIGNS for whatever reason, so I picked up the first 4 volumes of them a while back for like... 30 bucks total I think it was? Not bad^^

My Blockbuster has anime movies (except for NGE), and for some reason, they put freaking Invader Zim in the anime section.

It's cause all the animation is done in Korea, then shipped to the united states. We only did the story boards over here.

My blockbuster really doesn't have much of a varitiy of anime, only your basic NGE, Sailomoon, Ghost in the shell, ect.

If I want to rent any anime, the only choice near by is Blockbuster. The one here has an anime section and has stuff like GitS, NGE, Samauri Jack, um, Hellsing, and a few other series that escape my mind at the moment. I've rented the first volumes of Last Exile and Trigun, and got annoyed when I realize they don't have any further volumes. Their selection isn't awesome, but enough to give me a taste of the more popular titles (even if only the first few episodes...)

My blockbuster mostly just has anime movies. I mean as far as series go, a little Champloo, and a little Berserk there, but not alot. Still, I'm not complaining.

My store had a bunch of random episodes of various series (like disc 3 of Cowboy Bebop and nothing else from the series except the movie). If you rent something you really like and the disc is in good condition, you should be able to keep it past 30 days (some stores will do 20) and you can buy it for the used price minus want you paid to rent it.

When I worked there, I did that all the time with games and movies (plus employee discount). :D

However, seeing how your store in Canada is being bought out, they may or may not adopt this policy (terrible for new stores or stores on short budgets). Most franchise Blockbuster stores opt out of the ‘no more late feesâ€

Ours had Samurai Jack to. Because animation involving samurai MUST be anime :/

Went to take a look at the 3 for 24 old stock, and found over half of FMA, few disks of Eva and a few of this and that there. Basically the place is totally being cleaned out. Nothing I'm overworked on spending my money on. Althoug hI WAS sort of eyeing the Slayers' movie, but meh. Rented it once before and enjoyed through it^^ Didnt' take a hard look around the games either, but from soem of the previous played stock they sold, stuff for GBA was still regular price >_< A downer, yeah :/ And no FFTA in sight :/ Didn't look too hard but yeah :/

So, hoping whatever they have now in the new Blockbuster won't be too bad...

I only saw a few FMA dvds, Rune Solider, and Dragonball Z. The choices are pretty slim.
