I hate to triple post, but Yesy now has episodes 20 and 21.

And I just realized that you can directly download the episodes. (See Yesy's forum for details).

So I'm watching Uta ep 17 now and I just have one thign to say so far:
After that one scene, looks like it's back to the twins being girls :/ I guess they are just... tomboyish? Because there is NO WAY they looked like guys!
My thoughts on that episode exactly. XD Besides, most of (if not all of) the guys have had the smaller eyes, while the archers still have big eyes, similar to Eruruu, Aruruu, Kamyu, etc.

*shakes head at anime* Sometimes, I get sooooooo gender confused^^ Fruits Basket, Fushigi Yuugi, AND RG Veda have confused me until it was revealed on their true genders. Cept the case is usually guys looking WAY too much like girls (not to mention the cross-dressing). Oy, RG VEda was the worse because after watchign 2 OVAs you would SWEAR it was a girl... read the manga and found out Ashura's a GUY and oy... @_@... I'm scared where it's gunna go now! (Safe to assume that Ashura was a girl in Tsubasa though... at least I'm hoping... and if not... I'll just pretend^^) *shakes fist at gender-confusedness* >_<

Hahaha, I never did get around to reading RG Veda (or watching, yet), but now I'll know what to think! XD The only real gender-confusion problem I had (aside from Utaware) was Kamatari, from Rurouni Kenshin. Then I read vol. 15. Oh yeah. It IS a guy.

I finished downloading episode 20, though! *o*/ I'll have to watch it later tonight or tomorrow, if my homework is light enough. :thumb:

Well, slowly getting through the eps I'm behind^^ Watched ep 19 too today^^ A cute ep... minus one part :/

Oh! And SS released a DVD Uta special... titled as "Uta Special 1" so maybe more to come. It's uhhh... -_-; How would I put this? Watch at your own risk. And as a warning, I suggest avoiding the VERY last part after the credits... depicts the twins kinda :/ Yeah... not good. Shounen aish/shoujo aish... well, WHATEVER they are! Shoujo ai actually, sicne it's a shounen series and all.. So guess it's settled: they are girls. :/ But yeah just a random pic at the end of it of that, which can easily been avoided^^

Twins are guys.

I wonder how different UM would be if a Shoujo series?

Obviously, Eruruu would become the main character....
Maybe she will become romantically involved with the other male characters?

Oboro would be the sexy hothead.
Kurou would be the goofy yet lovable clownish character.
Benawi would be the uber-cool sexy guy who speaks softly.
Of course, Hakuoro would be the primary love interest.
And I think we would see more of Nuwangi, the jealous jerk.

As for the females, everyone would still occupy the same position, excpet probably

Touka, the best friend
Karura, the rival in love.

Being a Shoujo series would not minimize the death and destruction. Instead, war would be more poignant and heart rendering, and entire episodes would focus on a girl losing her boyfriend in battle.

*double post'd to add new stuff!*

So I just watched ep 20... and here are my thoughts on the show at the moment:
I'm REALLY wondering where the overall plot is going? Seems like stuff is broguht up, and then ignored. Liiiike Hakuoro and his past/demon form, although that'll probably end up coming back again. And then there's like the random thign with Kamyu and when she was dancing in the water, with now randomly biting Aruuruu and suckign her blood like a vampire or whatever, and NOW this new little arc with the new invading country and their mechas and stuff. Seems like the series is FINALLY climaxing, and well, a loose plot overall, almost^^ I say "almost" because since all this new stuff is being broguht up, it reminds me of the end of the openign sequence with the mecha, Kamyuu and so on... so I assume that SOMEONE everythign will fit together in place in the next, and last, few eps....
When it came to UtaMono, I tried to hold off on the spoilers--tried.

I already predicted that Hakuoro would be some kind of monster. From day 1, actually.

What I didn't expect (but spoilered myself around episode 17 or so) is that:
It takes place in the future.
Well, the series is over. It's a shame yesy tacitly "dropped" the series at episode 26 because Your-Mom's subs I have trouble following. (No, I can't tell if they have translation errors, but sometimes the subtitles make no sense).

There are a few parts that are absolutely heart-rendering.
Aruruu especially can't bear to see Hakuoro leave. She still loves him even in his hideous monstrosity form. I shed tears when I saw her hug his finger.

Eruruu gives some impassioned words to Hakuoro in some ethereal alternate dimensiony place and runs to him and kisses him.

And Yuzuha dies.
Must not... read >_< My bandwith is pretty much expired for this month so I can't download the last 2 eps (or even have them load on Youtube :/) till Sunday.... then I can see how this thing ends, and it better be good >_< Then I'll write a review for it^^

Hmmm I wonder how many people are left that started this show and actually watched it through to the end? Maybe caus eit got licensed in the middle of the show? *shrugs* With me, I decided to stop watching all licensed anime... after this show since I'm only 2 eps away from finishing!

Gah, I still haven't finished it. There's been a problem with my sound card recently, and even though it's not like you need sound to watch a subbed anime, I would really rather have sound. XD; I'll finish it soon, though. And yes, that spoiler box is oh-so-tempting. XD

I liked the last episode but it seemed to leave a lot of things unanswered.

and...
I wish they would have developed Mitoko's character more. And I wish they would have showed more about her relationship with Hakuoro.

I haven't played the game, but I've read enough spoilers.

Even knowing these spoilers, I think they did the best they could to show Iceman/Hakuoro's relationship with Mikoto. For God's sake, he had a child with her. (According to the game, the baby is Eruruu's ancestor--and thus, so is Mikoto and Iceman).

In the end, when Hakuoro and Eruruu are alone together, he says "Mikoto. I should have known." I guess what one can gather from that is that Hakuoro feels that Eruruu has loved him in the exact same way Mikoto has (and we know the full extent of Eruruu's feelings for him). In the game, they outright say that Eruruu is the reincarnation of Mikoto.
That's what I pretty much figured. Well here's my thoughts...
The last bit of the series was SO good so if ONLY it was stretched out or somethign it would've been AWESOME. The flashbacks and stuff made thigns very interesting.

With Yuzuha, it's like "Oh so she died already?" I wonder if it has any meaning to Hakuoro's "death"? *shrugs*

I'm So happy that Eruruu confessed and went in for a kiss!^^ The girlyness in me was waiting for that to happen for like, ever! Oh! But one thign I was wondering on... when Hakuoro was known as "Rak Shine". Remember that? Maybe I missed somethign but did he really kill his wife and child in demon form? I doubt they'd be refering to him "killing" Mikoto cause that seems WAY to into the past...
Still might concider buying ADVs thinpack of it... though.
"Rak Shine" is just the ravings of Orikakan (thanks to Dii's meddling). Hakuoro is really the avatar of the god that everyone worships (except Kuuya).

Speaking of which, they never explained who Onbitaikayan (Kuuya's god) is. Onbitaikayan is actually the scientists back in Iceman's period. So yes, the rabbits worship the killers of Iceman's family/amorphous jello beings.

In the game, Yuzuha dies giving birth to Hakuoro's child. Uh, you can guess why they didn't portray that....
Makes more sense...
Yeah I'm GLAD they didn't show that there though^^ And that's why the game is and H one :/ I'm just gunna assume she got really sick and died...
That is a safe assumption because there is no evidence to suggest that what happened in the game happened in the anime.

Wow, I'm late in the game on this one. I thought the ending didn't make a few things quite clear enough - but not to worry! - Ingy and spoiler tags to the rescue. I suppose the anime could have done a better job with the loose ends, but not bad.

I also found if you look up on Wikipedia, theres a summary of the whole background story (in detail) on there that totally makes even more sense... I so wish they would've put more of that in there because that's what made it interesting as well as make more sense^^

Ah, now that was very helpful. Now why can't the anime creators be as effective at conveying info. as wikipedia?

Fantastic! I wonder if they'll go with "The One Being Sung" now, or just plain old "Utawarerumono"? Now all I have to do is, well, you know, actually watch the last few episodes. XD School has been keeping me too busy! XD;

You really shoudl when you get a chance. I find them the best out of the series, with the whoel explanation of the background story and all. I REALLY love the backgroudn story, and as I've said before, the whole thing can be seen on Wiki... of course pelase do finish it before you read it^^ Honestly, I'm hopign they make an OVA just for the background story and fit in everything that the anime didn't show/mention. That would be... pretty cool^^
