*Can't agree with you more* It must be the Southwest. You live in Texas, I live in Arizona. Overcast days and especially rainy, wet, drizzly cold days... make me ecstatic. I get way too much sun. I LOVE rain! I love rainy, wet, cold, "nasty" days. They are like paradise to me because I see so few of them. They also.. make me think of times I've spent in the mountains... and I love that rain-wet smell and the look of clouds all around, whispy, feathery and thick... trailing down. I love gray, wet, clouds, rain...

Also overated... mornings. Daytime, daylight. I seem to be more alive at night. I rarely see a sunrise. The sunsets where I live tend to be prettier, anyway. Give the the cool of the night, the darkness, the moon and the stars in the sky... Unless there's a power failure. Then, I miss the sunlight, because, at least with it, I can read.

Sex. It's overrated, in my opinion. It seems like society is obessed with it. People in my high school were obssessed with it. Almost everything around, in TV, books, wherever, is obessessed with it. I feel downright weird because I'm 24 and still a virgin. Seriously, I don't see what the big deal is. I've seen animals do it. It's primarily just a reproductive act. I don't have any desire right now to have children, so why should I be as obessed with it as the world seems to want me to be? I'm 24 and haven't had it and don't want it. So what? It's not like I'm going to die without it. Also, older Christian married women I've talked to... they say that it's overhyped... that their marriages are more about the emoitional stuff... cute little things to show caring, not about sex.


Gambling. My mom and dad took me to a casino once. It was just a stopover coming home from a day road trip to the higher elevations of the state to see some snow. I liked playing in the snow *like a little kid* much better than that casino. I took in a set amount of money... 10 bucks... played slots for a while... a video-dealy or two... I realy didn't see what the big deal was. You loose a little money, you win a little money. You try to win a little more, you loose a little more... It wasn't...exciting to me. I was rather bored and only wound up loosing all my quarters because I wanted something to do while waiting for mom and dad to get ready to leave. So many people find it addicting... family members of mine find it fun. I found that casino... really, really boring. I was more interested in looking at the artworks on the walls and the archetectural features than playing the games.

Drinking. Alcohol... well, there are some things I kind of like the taste of, but most alcohol I do not like. I did get drunk once in my life. I didnt' see what the big deal was. I felt goofy and acted stupid. I can do that without alcohol to intoxicate me, thank you very much. I found, that, while in that state... my moral inibitiions got chipped at... I was so much more easy to chip at as far as my standings on things and behavior under the influence of drink than I ever was sober. I find that... I don't want to ever become inebriated again. I did it once, at a party-type thing.... don't want to ever do that again. I can have just as much fun becoming goofy and acting stupid in a sober way - where I still keep some of my mind/all of my will. It's even more fun that way. So.. when the world or your friends are urging you to get drunk... my advice is to just say no. It's really much more fun to be goofy when sober than to be goofy when drunk, and you won't have the regrets that come with being drunk later on.

Don't get me wrong, I love the taste of beer, but getting drunk is definately overrated. I prefer being sober at parties because I can actually have decent conversations with people. More importantly, I am myself as opposed to some weird alcohol induced persona. I speak from experience, although not proudly.

As far as sunlight goes though, I love it. It's usually either rainy or overcast in the UK, and its always a nice day when the sun makes a rare appearance. Thunderstorms are great though

The UK is overrated. I dunno what it is with all these Americans wanting to come here. Here are some reasons to dissuade you.

1) The climate is lousy. Tepid would be the right word - it rains all the time, but there aren't any good thunderstorms. In winter, it's usually cold and drizzly, and we get little snow.

2) Things are more expensive over here.

3) Video games get released about 5 months after they come out in America. Some Japanese games make it to the states, but never find their way to the UK.

4) Anime is harder to find.

There are good things about the UK as well, but this is the overrated thread

But, being from Texas, you may get "hot, humid, gray, overcast, rainy day" as well, and that's much worse than hot humid sunny day... I prefer hot dry desert day. It's hot so you can swim and such, but it's dry so your sweat actually cools you off... You have to drink more water, but that's a small price to pay. I find rain to be a bit overrated. Overrated by the people in states like Oregon and Washington, anyhow.

I really don't like getting wet, and considering I walk everywhere, that would be a major problem. I especially don't want to get my books wet... I don't exactly have a completely waterproof backpack, and even if I did, I don't like taking that chance.

I personally hate them all, since it was Sony and Microsoft that drove Sega out of the hardware biz. Don't mind Nintendo, really, but I haven't had a Nintendo since the N64.
