Actually, though, you see both of Yoh's parents. His father plays a substantial role in the story later on. His mother not so much, but she's at least in the manga flashbacks (so, I'm assuming she'll be seen at least a little in the anime.)

I don't think this joke was in the Japanese version, but I found that to be hillarious. It is in refference to a Physics book "Schroedinger's Cat" and I was surprised to see it show up in any type of anime... Basically, he said if you have a cat in a box, and a radioactive particle (one atom) in a chamber that would detect the radiation from it going "nuclear", and if it did, would release poison into the cat's chamber, killing it. If it was in space, with no one to see it, then at it's half-life (when half of all the particles fission and turn into other atoms) would the cat be alive or dead? The answer was "Neither." Because the cat wasn't observed and there was only 1 particle, the cat was in a state of... That's the part I forgot, but that's the funniest part... The cat is neither alive nor dead, but in a state of quantum uncertainty or something like that. I forget the exact wording I used (as it's been about 4 and 1/2 years since I've been in a physics class. )

Judaism and Christianity are MONOTHEISTIC and there is no plural form of words in Japanese, so Kami can mean "God" as well as "gods." That was a fault of the translators to immediately assume any use of Kami would mean plural.

Judaism and Christianity are MONOTHEISTIC and there is no plural form of words in Japanese, so Kami can mean "God" as well as "gods." That was a fault of the translators to immediately assume any use of Kami would mean plural.
