I'm happier Hagu seems less childish; it makes for a more realistic show? I think she's still just as cute anyway.

Argh! Prepare thyselves for a rant from the 'Saka!
What is wrong with Morita!? Ack! In this episode, I was only moments away from diving into my computer and wringing his [loveable] little neck! He's giving up everything to buy back his father's company!? Hagu needs him! Morita is, effectively, the only one who can truly understand the tormented nature of Hagu's mind-set. The plauged existance of a genius is one which very few people can grasp, and those who grasp it have to stick together!! You, Morita Shinobu, have absolutely no right to run out on that girl. None. DO YOU HEAR ME, MORITA!!!

Ahem. Well, with that aside, did anyone notice how much more grown up Hagu looked in this episode. In the library, she really did look like a woman and not a child. Our little girl is growing up! *tear*

I gotta admit, I got a little choked up when Takemoto said "We never got to go to the beach." The whole tone of the statement seemed to allude to a. . . breaking. A splintering of the group. Granted, it has already started with Mayama, but I feel so depressed just thinking about them falling apart. I've come to love these characters so much. I don't know how I'm going to stand to see them drift in different directions.

Don't go, my beloved Hachikuro cast! Stay static and unchanged with me forever in my land of magical rainbows and candy corn cottages!
Episode. Seven.

Oh, my freakin' goodness.
This episode was excellent, but the whole first 7/8ths of the episode, I kept thinking-- Oh, come on. Let's keep it moving. I don't want to waste a whole episode on the past. I was just about to be a little upset, despite how everything that was revealed in this episode about Kaoru and Shinobu's motivations when the final line of internal dialogue began:

Morita: I didn't know. . .
Takemoto: I couldn't even notice it. . .
Mayama: There's no way we could have predicted it. . .
Yamada: The event that would soon happen. . .
Shuuji: And the lives we'll lead from here on out.

By now, my heart was racing. By the simple fact that we have only once before heard internal dialogue from Morita and we hear it at this moment, I knew that what was about to happen was something I would never have anticipated. Something I never would have thought was possible. And then it came--

Takemoto: None of it.

Then, there it was-- Hagu's long golden hair surrounded by pieces of bloody glass. My stomach flipped inside me. No joke. I sat straight forward and just. . . stared at my computer.

If Hagu dies. I'm going to sob my eye out. I just hope this will bring Morita to his sense and allow him to see just how fragile the lives of those around him are. Make him see that he cannot simply live oblivious to everyone around him expect their situations to remain static. If he continues to live for money, money may soon be all he has [except for me, of course. He'll always have me. XD]. May that be a lesson to you, Shinobu.
So, in short, I. was. floored.

Well after being told that "I had to come post" in here I'm here! Actually I was so annoyed at this episode that's what was taking me so long...
Personally I was like "what a waste of an episode" because although we learned all this history stuff, it had practically nothing to do with the main plot. Plus why did this get a whole episode with nothing at all about the other characters until the very end? All the other episodes have had at least parts of them devoted to the other characters.

Lol, I am certain Hagu didn't die. Did you watch the preview? Plus she would be in the room right next to Yamada and Shuuji and I would think they would notice/hear something like that. XD  But I am quite certain that they wanted you to think that she died or committed sucide or something.

Well it looks like Takemoto is done with his stupid tower now. So maybe he'll finally get his stupid face over and help Hagu! ;)

Honestly I don't understand what is so awesome about the former Morita company that those two brothers have to kill themselves making money to buy it back. Where is there Dad now anyway? Although I have to admit I am looking forward to their showdown in the next episode. Maybe with things resolved for the company it will allow Morita to think about a certain Hagu again? Well we can dream I guess. :thumb:

And for pity sake why wasn't Nomiya in this episode!? :P

Nomiya was in the episode; it was brief, but sweet. :3 And I thought the Morita brothers looked so cute as kids, but you could definitely see that
their father favored Morita more, just like everyone favors Morita over Takemoto. *rolls eyes*
DON'T READ THIS CRUCIAL, as in later SPOILER IF YOU HATE THEM.
Hagu is definitely NOT going to die, but her artist's hand will be badly injured. In fact, the most decisive part of the whole Honey and Clover series is going to come up. Mainly,

Morita is finally going to confess to Hagu. And from there, she's going to have to choose between Morita and Takemoto. A whole mess of other things happen too.

I'm finally catching up so I'm gonna do some mini-responses on eps 5 and 6.
First off, I'm loving Nomiya/Yamada more and more and more. Nomiya is so nice to Yamada... It's sweet.

Poor Rika! I was laughing the entire way through the Spanish love interest scene. That was absolutely hilarious.

Is it just me or was that the first time we really got into Hagu's head. The story has never been on her POV before, has it? At least not that I can remember. I really liked seeing inside her head.

I actually liked the idea that Morita is trying to buy back his father's company (I had theorized something along those lines since the first season). At the same time I REALLY wanted to wring his neck. I'm with you all the way Osaka! Morita! Help Hagu-chan! T_T

The beach was sad... I don't want them to all fall apart! I reallllyyyy hope they don't all seperate *cough*hagumorita*cough*
Edit: Well I wrote that late last nigth while ep 7 was downloading, and then my internet stopped working =_=;; Anyhow, I saw ep 7 also now. Here's my comments on that:
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Hagu!!! T___T That's basically all I thought at the end of the episode XD;; And then I just accidentally highlighted over Puguni's spoiler box and caught sight of the first few sentences... >.< Ugh, this is one of the times I wish I was a slow reader. I didn't want to know that yet *cry*

ANYHOW... The episode was kinda slow, but in a good way. I'm glad we got to hear some internal dialogue from Hagu and Morita these last few eps. (^w^)/

HAGU-CHANNNN!!! T___T And I was so mad that Morita wasn't there for her! He better come in the next episode.

I really liked the portion about the business, though I was surprised how ruthless Kaoru was being. I kept waiting for Morita to speak up, but he never did. Then when Kaoru started crying he just silently comforted him, which I thought was nice. ANYWAY now that the company-taking-over is out of the way, hopefully Morita can focus on Hagu-chan when she needs it.

The Spanish part with Mayama was... interesting. Firstly it's nice that Mayama is distracting the Spanish guy enough that Rika can relax, but he's getting more stalkerish and it's freaky. I liked him in the first season because he seemed really deticated and persistent, but this is a little much. Just go at her pace and sleep in your own room! Picking locks... how stupid and inappropriate.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a boy. This anime is one of those you just have to see. One warning
You'll never see the game twister the same way again
(don't know if it counts as a spoiler).

I haven't started Honey and Clover II yet. Really want to but I got hooked on it in my schools anime club, so I'll wait and see it with them.

Twelve, actually, and, well. . .

Oh my gosh, guys. I just finished it. It's finally come to an end. All of it.

First, I'm going to cry. I really am. I already did a little.

This show is the most brilliant shoujo anime ever. Bar none. Everything about it is so real. I say this because:
everything doesn't turn out perfect. Hagumi is still in love with Morita, and he is still in love with her but they can't be together because they both have goals in life larger than themselves. With that said, Hagumi cannot love Takemoto even though he means the world to her. He, too, must seek a life that is not with her. Similarly, Yamada has grown out of her love for Mayama, even though it pains her, and has moved beyond it to something new. It's all so raw, so precious and so real.

Honestly, if I were graduated from college, I don't think I could handle this show. If you've ever had intimate friendships like these on the show and had watched them being torn apart by time, I think I woud have positively bawled in the final monologue of the show.

And may I just saw that the ending was brilliant. The four leaf clovers and the closing line of dialogue. All of it was unbelievable. Everything. It is everything I ever wanted it to be and more.

At first, I was disappoint by how bitter sweet it was. Everything didn't turn out the way I wanted. But then I thought about it-- isn't that real life, though? The lines are not so straight and easily followed as those that are laid down in literature so frequently. This show presents lives that are close enough to bleed with one another but must split apart with the curents of time.
Thanks Hachikuro for being so wonderful.

*stands up and clears throat* Hi, I'm Ashley and I'm a huge Honey and Clover fangirl now.

Seriously, my boyfriend sent me this series because he thought I needed to relax more and it's turned out to be WELL worth it. Although I confess I had to skip most of this thread since I haven't seen H+C II. It WAS fun to see Osaka and Myrrh duke it out, though. Myrrh, as soon as I have high speed internet again I will so make some wallies!

I LOVE Morita! From episode 1 he was always hilarious to me. I think my favorite of his scenes, though, has to be the "Shinobu put the nin back in ninja!" And the twister game, of course, during which I almost peed my pants. Although I think honestly Yamada is my favorite character. I can relate to her (emotionally not in terms of her physique, I'm afraid XD) more than anyone else. And Osaka, Myrrh, I'm sorry but I really do like Takemoto. =P

*laughs triumphantly* I have a admin on my side. :D! Takemoto <3!

I have the episodes sitting in my file, but I'm a bit afraid of watching it. I think I might cry...I love this anime to pieces...

That's why I was very annoyed when a site gave it a horrible review. >:|

T_T Osaka your post reflects my feelings about the series ending exactly. It was so good... and yet so bittersweet.
As this hasn't really been brought up yet... "Shin-chan" and Hagu... I was a little surprised to say the least, and Yamada's reaction was fairly close to mine. That being said, when I watched the scene between Yamada and Sensei I was laughing so hard. It was great.... Anyway, I always saw him as more of a father figure to her, but whatever. <.<;
Gosh I am so late in returning to this thread. ^_^; And Ash, I'm glad our dialog could serve as a source of amusement to you.

Honestly I was fine with the series, and I didn't really get all that teary eyed.
That probably had a lot to do with the fact that the Yamada plot line turned out exactly how I wanted it to. Go Nomyia! Yay! Although now that Osaka brought it up, it does remind me of how I've grown away from some of my high school and college friends since I graduated. ... okay maybe I will cry now. T_T

Yes the Shin + Hagu thing kind of freaked me out. My reaction was close to Yamada's "Sssssss-sen-sen-see?" XD I'm glad that Hagu is going to stay close to Yamada at least.
I also like that the title Honey & Clover FINALLY makes sense now. Is that seriously a Japanese thing though?
(to eat Honey on bread with a 4 leaf clover stuck to it?)
I hope you wash the clover before hand. *shudder*

You know, strangely, I wasn't really as weirded out by
Sensei's confession as most people.
Here's why I think that was:
Frankly, why is Shuu-chan and Hagu any different than Mayama and Rika? It's pretty obvious that he hasn't been some kind of creepy closet lover her whole life. Upto the last year or so, he was still going to Morita when she was in a despondent artist's slump. He was sending others to her as he main means of comfort. I think, however, some time in that last year, perhaps even as late as the time period of Hagumi's rehab, he realize that the only person who was really ready to give up everything for her was him. Morita was gone. Takemoto, despite his love for her, could not understand her completely. Shuuji is the only one who is truly able and willing to give up everything for her.

I'm not really sure what his relationship with Hagu is. I don't really think he's actually her "uncle". The talk about Hagu's father didn't sound like the kind of discussion a man would have about his brother. I mean, I coudl be wrong, but I wonder if he might be a more distant relation that than. (Think about how all the Sohmas are "cousins" but it doesn't seem that any of their parents are siblings.)

Overall, it is still odd, but the truth is-- while Shuuji may love Hagu romantically, I don't really think his feelings for her really "sexual", if that doesn't sound ridiculous. I mean, I think he knows she loves Morita, but his feelings for her are more than platonic.

In essence-- it is weird, but I don't think it's pedophilia or anything. I'm crushed that Hagu isn't with Morita, but, honestly, I'm not entirely sure if she might not end up with him one day. If he had come to her with the attitude with which he addressed her in episode 11 when he hand had been healed, I think she would have accepted him. Who knows.

BTW, I plan to write an essay style piece on my thoughts concerning Shuuji, Hagumi, and why things had to end up how they did. I'll probably post a link to it later for anyone who feels like reading it. :)

And just for fun, let me throw in that I thought it was absolutely hillarious when Yamada is talking to Sensei and she spears him with "A man despite his years" and "Basically out of the equation." That was, without question, one of the funniest gags this season.
So, um, yeah.

Ashley wrote:I LOVE Morita! =P

Welcome, Ashley, into the magical world of Hachikuro, the greatest Shoujo anime EVER! BWA HA HA!

We'll forgive you somehow for your attachment to Takemoto.

No, really, by the end of the series, I really did like him. But I still did not think he was the man for Hagumi. I stand by that. Until, um, forever. XD
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. Haha, I liked Takemoto a bit more by the end of the series. But yeah no way he should end up with Hagu. I would totally have to revolt if that happened and turn Daystar into a "I hate Takemoto" site. But it seems I don't have to worry about that happening.

Does anyone know if the manga continues on past this point? Or is this really "the end" of the whole series?

Apparently there was some additional incidents in the final chapter of the manga
(Such as a scene in which Nomiya makes Yamada cry by asking her if she would lock Leader forever into a dark room if it meant that Mayama would love her)
, but my understanding is that the end is essentially the same. Sadly.

However, word on the street is that Umino Chika's next work will be a Hachikuro spin off. I'm not sure what that means, but my hope is that atleast a few of the original characters are in it. Please! I beg of you! Don't take my Morita away! Noooooooo!!! *does a fangirl style Darth Vader impression*

Is it possible to get the manga anywhere online? Scanlated would be nice, but I'd even content myself with staring at the pictures of the raws. PM me please =]

I'm afraid I can't find anyone who's scanlating the manga. I mean, there are groups doing it, but no one has more than a chapter or two scanlated. :(

Yeah now that the anime is over I want to read the end of the manga to see the few extra parts. But the only group I know of that is doing it has only a few chapters done. There's gotta be a rabid fan somewhere who has translated it. >_>

Oh yeah? What if I made a Takemoto x Hagu wall? What then!? XD
