What series (or single) have you seen more than once?

Postby Mithrandir » Fri Aug 25, 2006 10:30 am

OK. The purpose of this thread is to list any anime titles you've seen more than once. We may get side tracked on how certain series(es...) are more "2xable" than others, and that's OK. :D

Soooo, fire away!

Here are the series I've watched more than once:
Full Series:
* Cowboy Bebop (2x)
* Azumanga Daioh (3x)
* Serial Experiments Lain (2x)
* .Hack//Sign (2x)

Semi-Series:
* Macross Plus (4x)
* Robot Carnival (3x)

Singles:
* Totoro (I dunno, 4x...5x maybe...?)
* Kiki's (6x)
* 耳をすませば: Whispers of the heart (3x)
* Vampire Hunter D (3x)
... Wow. That list is going to get really long, really quick, so I'll end it there.

How about the rest of you?

Well...let's see....because of reruns, I've seen at least parts of Cowboy Bebop, FMA, and Naruto more than once. XD I've also watched Miyzaki's movies several times.
I have a tendancy to watch anything I have available to me over and over again, so...I don't own many anime DVDs (yet), but I'm starting to buy some up and I have a feeling I'll watch them over...and over...and over...

Well, I saw TriGun about 3x times and Wolf's Rain 2x(although I hated having to see its ending more then once) plus .Hack//Sign 2x, that's about it though. :sweat: Barely any really, which is surprising considering I own a lot of Anime on DVD.

Let's see...

I've seen most of the shows played on Adult Swim more than once. This would include

FullMetal Alchemist
Cowboy Bebop
Trigun
FLCL

Other series (or portions of series) would include

Rurouni Kenshin (Kyoto Arc)
.hack//DUSK (I think that's what it's called...I've heard Legend of the Twilight and Legend of the Bracelet, too...)
Full Moon wo Sagashite (well, I'm actually on my second watch-through, so maybe it doesn't count. XD)
Air (TV)

Movies would include

Whisper of the Heart
Spirited Away
FFVII Advent Children
(if that counts)
InuYasha: Affections Touching Across Time

And that's pretty much all I can think of at the moment. XD I've seen most of the above twice, with the exception of FFVII (once on the computer to watch the sub, twice on DVD to watch the sub and dub). Since I don't own the full series of lots of anime (only certain DVDs when I get money, and even then, not many DVDs), I haven't had the chance to watch them all twice. I do; however, read manga a lot more than I watch anime, so I've read through many of my manga twice or more. :thumb:

I hope we get sidetracked, because that would be an interesting discussion to me. However, my own list is as follows:
Part of Samurai Champloo (for the fights)
Advent Children x3 (not anime, but I wanted another title)

Generally speaking I don't like rewatching things. I've ended up rewatching some things like the Matrix or Advent Children because they are cult classics, but most of the time I just view series or movies once. Some films I enjoy seeing again many years later because I have a different perspective but it is somewhat fresh again (like the Matrix and the Lord of the Rings) but some don't rewatch well.

For example, I hope to never subject myself to watching most shonen anime a second time. When I watched some of the dubbed Naruto episodes I had tested in the sub I was completely unmotivated to keep watching. Basically any anime that is stretched (those few second pauses or another panning shot add up) becomes worse upon rewatching to me.

This is one of those side conversations we can have, I suppose. I'm kinda surprised how many of my friends own more anime titles than they can possibly watch ONCE, let alone twice. I guess there are just some you can't rent.

On that note, some friends and I have an agreement where I'll buy certain titles, then let them watch it when I'm done, and they do the same. It evens out, and it's easier on the wallet. ;)

To be honest, I LOVE rewatching stuff. I saw the LOTR movies several times while they were in theaters, for example. I have no idea how many times I've seen Beauty and the Beast...

Basically, if I own a DVD, I WILL watch it, several times. XD Sometimes I'll watch it several times when I DON'T own it (through renting or my library). I'm just...that way. A lot of times I miss things I didn't see the first time. XD

I find that happens sometimes, yes. But with Azumanga Daioh, some of those pauses where just as funny, if not funnier the second time around (at least, Oosaka's were).

XD I'm the same way. I can't tell you how many times I've seen The Lion King, Lord of the Rings (actually, I could tell you how many times I've seen LOTR, but I won't, because it's borderline embarassing :lol: ), Pirates of the Carribbean, etc. I'll watch, re-watch, watch again a few weeks later...XD Of course, with anime, it all comes down to how much time I have. If I have a week or something out of school, I'll often watch a series or a movie again because I have time. Otherwise, I'm usually too busy, so my anime collection has a tendency to get neglected every now and again. XD;

Rurouni Kenshin - a whopping 5 times through.

Gundam Seed - 2

Vision of Escaflowne - 3

.hack//sign - 2. I watched it once and enjoyed it, kind of, I watched it again and was incredibly bored by it.

Gundam Wing - 3. It's funny with this one. The first time I watched I was 12, and thought it was the coolest thing ever. The second time, I was 15, and thought it was still awesome. The third time, I was 17, and absolutely abhorred it. The writing is so bad it's almost comical (in Japanese AND English).

I think that's pretty much it.

Seen multiple times

Series:

Nadesico (at least 6 or 7 times all the way through)
Sailormoon S (at least 5 times)
Sailormoon R doom tree arc (three or four times in the DiC dub when I was 14, once in Japanese years later...)
FLCL (three times?)
Lain (either 3 or 4 times)
Boogiepop (3 or 4)
The first run of the Tenchi OVAs (maybe 5 times
I, My, Me Strawberry Eggs (3 times)
Onegai Teacher (maybe 4 times, and it has NEVER been called onegai sensei, it's either Onegai Teacher or Please Teacher)
Azumanga Daioh (except I never had the whole series at one time. I watched disc one several times, then I watched Disc 2 several times, etc)
Blue Seed (twice)

Movies and single ep OVAs
Macross Plus movie edition (about 5 or 6 times)
Advent Children (twice)
Ghost in the Shell (2x only so I could try to understand the thing...)
Akira (maybe 5x... It was good to show off to people who weren't anime fans, it was a mindchanger...)
Grave of the Fireflies (5x or 6x... It was another mindchanger...)
Princess Mononoke
Spirited Away
End of Evangelion (I just wanted to remember what disturbed me so much about it... I remembered, heh)
Project A-ko (probably 10 times or more)
Tenchi Muyo: In Love (easily the best of the 3 tenchi movies...)
Sol Bianca (about 3 times, I forget which one...)

Single eps that received more than 10 views:

Sailormoon 44, 45, 46 (at least 10 if not more)
Nadesico 1-3, 9-21 (at least 15 times... Each)
Kodocha eps 1-15? (I forget where I stopped watching, but I've seen all those eps numerous times)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evcNPfZlrZs Watch this movie なう。 It's legal, free... And it's more than its premise. It's not saying Fast Food is good food. Just watch it.

I like to rewatch things when I have the time, especially really deep and complex things like FLCL. I always discover something new when I watch that series.

Wolf's Rainx2...or 3
Azumanga Daiohx2
FLCLx4
The Animatrixx3
FF7: Advent Childrenx4
Fullmetal Alchemistx2

plus scattered reruns of Cowboy Bebop, Naruto, InuYasha, Paranoia Agent, and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex on Cartoon Network. Unfortunately I haven't had the pleasure of seeing these series in entirety straight through.
