Good, good, good, good, good choice. Joy Division is great. They're more the predecessor if indie/punk/noise bands (a la mewithoutYou, old At the Drive-In, etc.), though, than gothic rock (although they are quite dark). Still, though, very good choice. I love Joy Division. You should check out the band New Order, as well. They formed from the remnant of Joy Division after Ian Curtis committed suicide back in 1980.

They may be the predecessors of those styles, though their particular style is the post-punk that evolved into gothic rock and the gothic subculture. In fact, Joy Division was one of the original bands to be called "Gothic" in the papers before there was, and has the ethereal vocal characteristic of Gothic music, although the whole horror/dark romantic themes saw their true kick after the Bauhaus' Bela Lugosi is Dead.

While at the Family Values Tour, I got an import copy of Dir en grey's Withering to death. album. I wanted to get a few others, but I couldn't afford anything else.

I really liked a lot of the songs, I added a number to my station in fact. I think I like the particular chaotic edge Joy Division had. I understand New Order is a Synthpop group from the leftover band members?

Yeah, they are. From what I understand, they had a big impact on the trends in dance music in the 80s. They're worth a listen. I prefer Joy Division over New Order, but they're both really good.

Also, if you enjoy Joy Division, you might want to give mewithoutYou and Interpol a go.

We'll see. At the moment, when my wish list of stuff I want to play on this station looks like this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/ref=lst_llp_wl-go/002-2955449-0676817 I realize it might be a while before I go exploring in entirely new genres I'm not likely to spin even if I like them.

I love, love, love Silly Wizard. Last CD I bought, Mosquitos Sunshine Barato (bossa nova and indie pop, lead singer Ju-Ju sings in English and Portuguese, very sultry!) And only $2.50 at Joseph Beth (love the 75% off thing - cheaper than Napster or iTunes.)

Good choices, all of those, Jeffster. Even Meteora by Linkin Park. They're one of my guilty pleasures....and that's the better of their two studio albums.

I picked up Nothing Is Sound by Switchfoot at work today on sale and with my discount. Yay.

It's not the most original music out there but I'm loving it. I think that it's one that you'd enjoy quite a bit Jeff...Though there's the small chance that I'm wrong. Do you want me to send you a link to their myspace or purevolume page?

Wow... just wow. Absolutely NOTHING like what I was expecting, but in a good sort of way. This cd is just beautiful. If you're a techno fan, definitely worth a listen.
