Happy Digi-Destined Day!

Yes, that's right Digimon freaks! Seven years ago, on August 1, 1999, the original Digi-destined kids from season one (Tai, Joe, Matt, Mimi, Sora, Izzy, and TK) first traveled to the Digital World and met their digital companions! This thread is for sharing your memories about that very first season!

HAPPY DIGIDESTINED DAY!

If it wasn't out of print, I would totally buy that ludicrously expensive import Digimon 01 DVD boxset to show my support. But for some dumb reason, every boxset in Japan has to be 'limited'.

I would SO buy DVD boxsets of the first 3 seasons v_v ...if only they existed :/ First 3 seasons rocked in my opinion, but the last 2... not so much.

Making me think about seasons 1 and 2 and how I cannot watch them makes me sad. :(

I haven't even seen past 02.

Why, oh why did I ever even STOP watching?

Lord, if only thou would give me ONE MORE CHANCE to see everything from the beginning again!

Wow, this makes me nostalgic. I do believe that I had simultaneous crushes on Matt and Tai once...(Hm...I think Myotismon worked his way in there somehow later as well...) The originals were the best...

Digimon is totally awesome. I bought the Digimon Movie last year off of amazon because I missed the series so much. The other day my friend and I were reminiscing about the "gateway animes" as we call them (Sailor Moon, Pokemon and Digimon), and we definitely made a digimon AMV to Backstreet Boy's Larger Than Life...

I agree with everyone else, I really wish I had a box set of the first few seasons (digimon adventure and 02)

Yeah, I really wish I could get it too. I have ALMOST the entire 4th season taped, but I didn't really like that one. I wish I'd have taped the others. *cries*

I too fell prey to this syndrome. Matt and Tai were my first true fangirl crush. I cried for days when Sora started likin' Matt. I cried because I pitied poor Tai, but I cried more sincerely since that meant Matt had a girlfriend. *Shakes fist at Sora* Way to ruin it for the rest of us, you evil man stealer.

Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Digimon was my first true introduction to anime. Between that and the fact that I did really like the first season, it will always have a special place in my heart. One of my favorite episodes from all of Digimon was when Patamon first digivolved to Angemon and sacrificed himself for T.K. In the first season, I think my favorite character was Joe.

That long ago?And they're already on Digimon:Savers over in Japan.
Sora's still the coolest member of the original Digi-Destined IMO.
Though lately I have begun to think that of the seasons shown over here in America so far that Tamers was probably the best.

Well... I'm studying Japanese, and doing quite well, so I would prefer raw versions more. God, I want to see this show again so bad.

My username is sort of a testament to where my Digimon bishounen loyalties lie. ;)

And I was always more for Taichi and Sora myself. ;^; Curses.

Me too. Back in the day - Saturday mornings eating cereal in front of the TV with Digimon airing on Fox 29. And I taped a bunch of shows if I couldn't watch them then, but I never archived them. Whoa, I'm gettin' a mega nostalgic moment happening here... I almost feel like watching all those old tapes in the drawer and seeing if I can find any episodes still on there...

I've only seen season 1-3 but 1 and 2 are definately my fav. The first episode I saw was just as the gang warped to the digital world for the first time. I hadn't even known about it until I stumbled upon it then. My fav characters were Matt and Izzy, I think.

This thread brought up so many memories that I just had to download the opening from season 2 from Google Video - http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4407197491665516822&q=genre%3Aanimation+digimon

WOAH I was celebrating all week, and I didn't even know!

After seeing that there was a digimon rp that I was able to join, I started watching some digimon stuffs!! ^_^ And it was on monday too! XD I stayed up till 730 watching Digimon movies that I had never seen before.

one of them was Digimon X evolution, a movie done completely in CG! IT WAS AWESOME!! and soooo cute!! XD

okie me done fangirling about that..let's fangurl about the actual series!

My favorite epsidoes were of course when Patamon didgivolved for the first time, I actually cried!

And then there was all the episodes when Gatomon and Kari were trying to keep their secret and when wizardmon died.. For some reason after that episode aired I couldn't get it out of my head!! I was like cleaning and had to pause to think about it!

LOL did anyone else wish that the digimon could fall in love? I always thought that Patamon and Gatomon would make a fun pair!

I had a few pairings with the kids as well. Kari/Tk, Matt/Sora, Ken/Yolei. I think the last two actually happened...

While it's not directly stated that Matt and Sora hooked up, you can just look at the kids and tell that each has the traits of the other.

You're right on the money with Ken and Yolei! They got married and had two kids. Ken became a detective and Yolei became...well..a housewife.

What really dissapointed me was the fact that Davis became a Noodle Cart Driver. Mr. "Greatest Soccer Player In The World" pushing/pulling a noodle cart while everyone else is going on to bigger and better things? That's just wrong!

why anyone would want to run a noodle cart...is way beyond my ability to comprehend...

Well the person who made the seasons had said that he wanted a Yamato/Sora Takeru/Hikari and Ken/Miyako couples. But when it came to the end he just picked two of the couples.

There were a number of things wrong with the 02 "ending," one of which is the fact that their kids looked either generic or carbon copies of their parents.

To be honest, I also consider that last battle with MaloMyotismon one of the cheesiest final battles in all of the seasons.
