Square, Enix, Working Designs . . .
They have put out some of the best games around, like the Lunar games, Final Fantasy, and Star Ocean games. ^_^

Blizzard - STARCRAFT. The greatest game evar.
Squaresoft - Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, wow.
Nintendo - We have had more fun with my cousin's N64 than his PS2. And now that I have my cube...

TOUGH choice, but if I had to pick...
Square-Enix - Square is the ULTIMATE game company. FFI-XI, Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross, Kingdom Hearts, the list just goes on and on...
Nintendo - They've made a lot of crap, but they've also made SO much good stuff
Bioware - Kotor, Baldurs Gate, NWN, is there no end to the RPG goodness?
close runners up include
Capcom - for Megaman
Sega - for Sonic
Konami - for DDR
Namco - for Xenosaga
*Edit oops - forgot Blizzard. *slaps self* How could I forget Blizzard!?

Nintendo takes the cake by far (as you may have guessed from my avatar of Luigi).
Square-Enix -- Both companies have had strong histories apart and are starting a good one together.
And I guess Capcom would be my third choice, for Mega Man, Marvel vs. Capcom, and Tron Bonne (I love that game!). Plus those great Disney games on the NES and SNES (Duck Tales, Magical Quest, etc.).

Yay for gravedugging.

Nintendo - what needs to be said?

Treasure - greatest and most inventive action games (go play Sin and Punishment; NOW).

HAL - SSB and Kirby. 'Nuff said.

Honorable mention:
-Retro and [the ones who did Paper Mario and Mario and Luigi, can't remember the name] (though I suppose they're more of Nintendo subsidiaries, like HAL)
-Konami - flippin' insane, and I love 'em (when they do stuff right, of course, such as Castlevania, Twinbee, Parodius, etc.)
-Capcom (again, when they do stuff right, like RE4 and DMC)
-Namco (for Soul Calibur and the Tales series)
-GrassHopper (Killer7).
-Ubisoft.
-I suppose SqaureSOFT/Square/SquareEnix can be in, too.

1. Blizzard - Starcraft and Warcraft II are the epitome of real-time strategy and Diablo II is just addictive.

2. Firaxis - Four words: Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri. Sure they didn't release the first Civilization, but they are making the latest ones (Civ 3 and 4), since it's Sid Meier's and Brian Reynolds' company.

3. Squaresoft - I'm sure you all know why.

EDIT: Oh hey, I just found myself.

Square-Enix

Nintendo

er...the third would probably be either Konami or Namco, although if we were talking about development studios as well, I would stick tri-Ace in there.

Squenix for Final Fantasy and KH (not to mention the Chrono games)

Nintendo for...Oh, it hardly needs to be said. XD

And either Sega (for Sonic--the old games) or...the company who made the Kirby games. Because I grew up loving those things. xD

Two years go by and my answer really hasn't changed... Konami and Square-Enix, though Capcom should have been mentioned... I mean, come one... They made the best NES era games... Megaman, Bionic Commando...

In order: (I only really have two, but if there was a third it would be Blizzard for quality and really playable games)

1. Looking Glass Studios - Thief 1, Thief Gold and Thief 2
2. Ensemble Studios - Age of Empires 1 and 2 and their expansions

3. Blizzard - Warcraft 2 and Warcraft 3 Starcraft

I've seen people mention Konami but I don't think anyone mentioned the reason Konami is so great: Bemani, in all of its forms.

I mean, Dance Dance Revolution? Beatmania? DanceManiaX? DrumMania? Para Para Paradise? You can't get any better than those. Rhythm games are the best.
