I recommend Amazon.com. I've bought anime from them in the past and I've never had any problems getting my items. Best Buy.com is my second choice. Then, there's Animenation.com and Ebay, but both Amazon and Best Buy are usually cheaper on anime than Animenation, and with Ebay a lot of the DVDs up for sale are the bootleg or fansubbed versions, which if you thought you were getting the legit American copy, could come as an unwelcome surprise. There are legit American anime DVDs on Ebay, you just have to be able to recognize them. The best way to do this is to go to Amazon or some other site and look at the American box art and item description, then compare it to to the one on Ebay.

Rightstuf.com is quite reliable, and I agree with BlueElf for the rest of the sites (Amazon, Best Buy). Overstock.com is also pretty good.

Overstock.com, DeepDiscountDvds.com, Amazon's "used" marketplace is usually pretty cheap (I got Samurai Jack season 1 for like, 14 dollars--including shipping!)

Yes if it's substantially cheaper than Amazon, or is selling something you can;t buy elsewhere it is most likely a bootleg.

Also be aware that some indiviual Amazon sellers have sold bootlegs, so beware if their price for a shrinkwrapped set is well below market price.

Authentic Japanese imports will run between $50-60 for a DVD and be Region 2

I typically find anime off of eBay or Overstock.

You can also use http://www.dvdaficionado.com, they have a function that searches various places online for the best bargain.

However, I hate them.... So it's irritating just to be on the site. But, that's just me.

Wow Overstock is looking REALLY good with the prices and stuff! Seriously, interest sucks and stuff, but a charge might be nice to have to easily purchase stuff nice and cheap off the net^^ I mean, the American sites ALWAYS have the bestest deals! And Overstock is looking pretty good... (Rightstuf's great too of course^^)

I second "deep discount DVD"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evcNPfZlrZs Watch this movie なう。 It's legal, free... And it's more than its premise. It's not saying Fast Food is good food. Just watch it.

I split my purchases between The Right Stuf website and DiscountDVD.com
Discount DVD I have some animes and manga that I couldn't find anywhere else. Both at times offer weekly sales of anime and anime items at prices lower than most stores. Say something at $29.00 going for $16.00.
One might offer free shipping if you buy over $100.00. They even offer overnight shipping or second day.

I used to do TRSI for some obscure stuff like VHS that were out of stock but I find they tend to be overpriced frequently so I just went to Amazon and the like. I also try not to give them any business on principle anymore since they do so much hentai and I try not to support anyone who sells it.

(I know it's hard to find a place that doesn;t sell it, but TRSI seems to be a major distributor)

Depending on the title you're looking for you may have to end up shopping around.
Some places might not have certain titles in stock so you may have to go somewhere else to find what you're looking for.

Well it looks like I messed up a little. It should be discountanimeDVD.com instead of discountdvd.com

ebay is pretty reliable. Much like the pirate bay, it's reliably bootlegged.

I've ordered from bestprices.com before. They really do have good prices on anime.

Every now and then, ADV will have a huge anime clearance with incredible deals. The downside is that it took me like 3 months to receive my order.

Misleading. Yes, there are plenty of bootlegs on eBay. There's also a great deal of legitimate stuff. I'm tired of people acting like eBay's anime selection is 100% bootlegs.

Yes, but you really have to dig for them. Odds are it will be a boot unless you're careful to verify that it is the American DVD

It's not very hard, you just need a dash of patience. Eliminate anything that says "All-region" or "region-free" and you're most of the way there.

I've come across boots where they claim "Region 1." They're R0 boots but they can play on R1 players so they are "Region 1"

The vast majority of bootleg sellers don't even try that ruse because they assume the consumer is either A) ignorant or B) apathetic, and eBay doesn't have the resources to stop them from pushing this stuff. Once you've used the "region 0/all-region" filter to narrow down the field, you can move on to other methods of screening.
