I have played The Longest Journey (the first game).
Overall, I thought it was a good game. There was some profanity, though I do not recall it being terribly prevalent. Certainly not as much as a game like something from the GTA series or maybe FEAR.
The lesbian aspect IS there, although it is not something that is really involved in the gameplay beyond being background. There is a character (the landlady of the main character) who is in a lesbian relationship and she will talk about it with you if you have a conversation with her. It is not a pervasive part of the game at all, but it is nonetheless there.
My feeling is that I will not willfully support anything that presents homosexuality in a positive light. So if I were to have known about the lesbian aspect I would not have purchased the game.
However, other than that, the game was well made and interesting with little violence and no nudity or real sexual content. The real moral issue is the one concerning the support of homosexuality. That, I suppose, depends upon your own moral views on the subject and whether or not you feel alright giving money to something that portrays such things in a positive light.
