Toonami Jetstream!

Postby rocklobster » Mon Jul 03, 2006 8:55 am

In case you haven't heard, Toonami will be streaming new shows on their website starting July 17. Here's what they have planned now:
  • Hikaru No Go
  • The Prince of Tennis
  • Naruto
  • MAR

In the future, you can expect the following:
  • Megaman NT Warrior (OK, it's not that new, but it will be new to the stream)
  • IGPX (again, not that new)
  • Zoids Genesis
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you. I appointed you to be a prophet of all nations."

I'm looking forward to MAR because I finished Flame of Recca recently (the manga and anime) and I love the series to death. After finding out MAR is a better version (as Monkey J. Luffy said, I probably won't like it as much as FoR) I'm looking forward to seeing it.

I was mildly curious about this, but not curious enough to go to effort to obtain information. But this will be much easier, so I'll ask questions. First, what will actually be available online? All shown episodes from those series? This strikes me as something that could possibly be very limited and only overhyped.

MÄR is better than Flame of Recca? Then what is Flame of Recca like?

Sorry... I read the MÄR manga, and though I'll probably read to the end of the series (possibly not long, in Japan) I haven't been terribly impressed by it. From what I've heard the anime, is basically the same thing with a lot of added flashbacks to drag out all the fights.

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Well, they recently released information about it at Anime Expo. The way I've understood it is that they will be gradually adding streaming episodes every week or so, and past episodes can be viewed as many times as one wants.

MAR is better than Flame of Recca? Then what is Flame of Recca like?

No. FoR is the superior series, manga-wise anyway, for several different reasons.

I'll probably read to the end of the series (possibly not long, in Japan)

MÄR (Part 1) just ended at 15 volumes, I think. However, MÄR (Part 2) is supposedly going to begin in a few months under the title of MÄR Omega.

Ah. I'm somewhat behind then. Do you know what the basic premise of MÄR Omega will be? The plot doesn't strike me as strong enough to merit a second part, unless something critical happens in the last few volumes.

Yeah, the anime was sort of weak.

FoR was the best 33 volumes of manga I've ever read so far.

Well darn, there goes my interest in MAR (I'm trying to do the " thing but my computer won't let me anymore <_<; ). But if Flame of Recca is better, I suppose I should go on and try that now.

Negative.
But, I've only read up to about Volume 10 or 11, so I don't exactly know where it all leads up to myself.

Since it's on the internet, can't you watch it from anywhere?

Anyway, I'm excited to see Hikaru no Go. I love the manga. I just haven't had time to watch anything on Jetstream yet. I'll check it out asap.

Yeah! I just watched the first episode of Hikaru no GO! While the opening and ending animations are different, Im thankful that the Dub kept the opening and closing themesongs. The closing one is just so perfect, it builds up as the episode ends and then kicks in... You will know what I mean once you watch a few.

As in most cases, its an odd transition going from the Sub voices to the Dub. But I guess they were ok. Sai's voice sounds a little less sophisticated in general, even when he is serious, while Akiras voice just sounds off... Maybe a little to old for the persona... Anyway. Everything else seamed to transfer well, with the expected pronunciation changes...

(Hikaru's name is said "hi-kah-roo" instead of 'hee-kah-roo' with the 'I' making a different sound as well as the 'R', which can both be expected... I guess...)

Go JetStream! Go Hikaru no GO!

I saw the first episode of MAR.

My question:

Do they air an ENTIRE episode or just a bit? It was 5 minutes long and that confused me.

EDIT: Sorry, heh, that was scene selection. Apologies.

Do they update an episode each week? Is this free?

I'm lost.

Toonami Jetstream is being cruel to me. D: I press it, and it loads... and then like, it loads through all the scenes and etc. And then.. it tells me to choose a show to watch. >_> So I'm like... "...O...kay..." and I press the first scene of the show I want to watch... and it starts loading... and not playing... again. D:

No Firefox or Mac support? I guess they know their audience, but I am not impressed. I'll have to take advantage of this another time. Not that my work break is a good time to watch anime in the first place.

Having seen this via a Viz preview, I agree. Or, to be more blunt, his voice makes me cringe almost every time I hear it.

Given that this is something new, they might need to iron out a few kinks in the system before it works completely smoothly.

Outside of that, I can't help anyone who has problems.

Yay~ Legal anime online XD;;

Well now I'm hooked on Prince of Tennis. I had already read the first two volumes of HnG, but I hadn't seen the anime yet. To echo UC... Sai's dub voice is making me cringe. I'll have to check out the Japanese sometime, but for the time being I'll just watch the dub.

How often will it be updated?

OOH I loved the episodes!! and I even got used to Sai's voice after a while! XD It's not so bad when he isn't yelling or screaming...Kinda fits his whiney personality...(I have only seen THIS one episode...to me he seems whiney or desperate..XD)

I loved mar!! It was really funny! not the most original thing on the planet...kinda reminded me of Rave master...I dunno why..XP

I Liked Prince of Tennis too! this will be a very cool thing!!

It buffered too often for my taste. But other than that, I liked it!
