Sakura Taisen(Wars) why.....

Postby Neosevangel » Tue Jun 20, 2006 10:26 am

Does anyone besides me think America should bring over the Sakura Taisen series? I mean we have almost every animation of it in America already and you would think with some of its popularity they would at least try it. I mean this year or last would have the perfect time for it with the remake of the 1st game and the 5th game out ( and its story actually taking place in America!) I recently just got interested in this franchise and can't wait (when I have the money) to buy the OVA series and movie but it will be meaningless without the games to go with them. What is your all's thoughts on the issue (if you are fans too of course.)

I've always been wondering what genre of a game it was since it was mentioned in Fruits Basket (the author's section).

Its a mixture of a dating sim and a tactical rpg with steam powered robots. Basically, this guy is training these bunch of girls. Out of these girls he can pick one to be his romance by answering correctly in situations outside battle. The closeness of your relationship with this girl you choose decides whether or not you'll have a powerful move to pull off with her during battle.

That's a summary of it in a nutshell.

No, no......at least not quite. The character models for the girls are very modest and respectable and there is very little to no sexual references. Besides, even though you can stay on all the girls good sides, the game recommends you end up with only one.

Ah, didn't mean like that kind, just more like "one guy with a bunch of girls" deal. Does sound interesting, though.

Well, admittingly, it would be interesting if they brought them over.
Problem is, the series has always come off really Japanese(much like Tengai Makyou, Red Entertainment's other flagship series), and Sega has been extremely hesitant to take any risks in localizing them.

Also, they probably should keep in the Japanese voice track(in addition to an English one), given how high-quality the Japanese voice-acting is supposed to be, but I only know of one or two companies that have ever done that.

I believe Funimation was trying to get someone to localize the games awhile back.

Hmm... are the voices the same in the game as the anime? I can't stand Iris' voice in the Anime... It sounds like she's been sucking helium AND a little ganja...

I'm believe they are. That's why they made such a big deal when the actress who voices Sumire retired, retiring her character as well.

I'd love to play a Sakura Taisen game. I hope they try to bring it over.

I think I might buy imports if I decide to alter my playstation 2 to play imports, (or I might buy some of the games on the pc) but it would be nice if it came over to America.

If anyone is wondering you can buy Sakura Taisen games for your pc and Playstation 2 (if you configured it to play imports) at:
