Military Brats

Postby Kisa » Tue Jan 20, 2004 12:17 pm

Ok, I got this idea from the homeschoolers thread . . .how many people here ar military brats?
It'd be cool to see and find out about where we have lived and all and maybe we have even lived in the same places! Military is a small community you know. ;)

Hmm... I wasn't raised in the millitary, nor did I ever enlist (well, didn't successfully enlist) but I was in an organization that does share some common traits... We call our locations "Bases" and we live in small, tight-nit communities and we go worldwide and perform relief work for disaster victims... Of course, we didn't kill anyone (except for a couple wackos who by no means should judge the whole of the (dis)organization) and we were working to bring them to Christ, which only happens in a small portion of the millitary (Chaplins, for instance) and usually only within the realm of millitary and not outside. I share an affinity with the millitary because of some things, but I guess that's not really what you were asking for...

(as for the wackos, they were supposedly abortion clinic bombers and abortion doctor assassins... Not only did the organization never teach that, but as to whether anyone in the organization actually did that is not confirmed, but was only said in a website that was against it... There were so many different beliefs, both political and doctrinal, within the organization that it's not too far out there to believe some of them were like that)

I grew up military until I was 7. Then my dad retired and I've grown up into a retired military family. My dad was Army. The only place I've moved to while he was in the Service was Maryland for two years. I've moved much more outside of the military though.

I'm an Air Force brat, at least until 1980. While in the service we lived in Georgia, the Philippines and Travis AFB (Northern California) at various times until Dad got out and switched to Reservist state (now since retired), and we moved to Lancaster, Calif. in 1981. We moved to San Diego in 1983, though, which is where I've lived most of my life.
