Interesting article on Trigun's biblical references

I dunno if those are REAL symbols or not..I mean where in the bible does it say the forbidden fruit were apples?

But I am not the maker of Trigun, so I don't know for sure, I think a lot of times we christians WANT there to be Christian Symbols in Anime that is just not trying to do that...

Why must we analyze everything? *shrugs*

Yeah, I read this article last year sometime. Interesting, but I don't think everything was intentional. As we all know, the Japanese are fascinated by Western culture, and they sometimes use Christian symbolism just for the Western factor. I don't know whether this was true in Trigun or not, but it's very possible. I did like that scene in ep 23, though, the one that Grubb mentioned. *nodnod*

Hmm the article is certainly interesting... Yet, I think the writer doesn't have things very well though out. I think having the Wolfwood being imperfect and then [spoiler] repenting as he dies[/spoiler] is a wonderful example of how Christianity is. I also think there is some symbolism with the apple. I am not quite sure what it is, but despite not knowing for sure that the fruit in Eden was an apple, we do know that it has been portrayed as an apple for hundreds (perhaps thousands) of years. This brings me to another point. I felt he was very wrong about his connection between Knives and Vash, and Eve and Adam (respectively). He said that Eve was the one who corrupted Adam. I could be getting into some theologically unsteady territory here. I know Eve is punished as well as Adam is but it seems the only one who blames her is Adam. God cursed both Adam and Eve, but in reading the account of the Fall it seems like the brunt of the curse falls upon Adam, as it was his job to protect his wife from such things as the serpent. So before I step on any more toes, I should wrap this up. So umm I think Trigun does have some Biblical references some that I would argue have to be intentional. Yet it is clearly not coming from a Christian worldview. So lets all make sure we spend our Sundays at Church instead of watching Vash (not) shoot people.
