An Ace up Nintendo's sleeve? There is another secret to the Wii? 1up says so...

Miyamoto and Iwata have hinted at a final secret for Wii that has yet to be revealed. And while we don't have all the details, we've heard that what's in store is exciting indeed -- secrets of a rather revolutionary nature, with some rather cool implications for gaming. Needless to say, we're looking forward to E3.

In response to the information posted by Shia Kyosuka about the force feedback, I have to take that with a grain of salt. Partially because it's a remote you're holding in your hand and I don't know how well force feedback would be for something like that. Secondly, the article states that there may be translation issues since the interview was originally in French, so it's possible that he just meant rumble capabilities and not force feedback.

I was told to copy my thread here.

http://www.cubed3.com/news/4988

Just as I thought. This just adds to the awesomeness that is the Revo Controller.

Force feedback and rumble technology are not the same thing.

Basically, like, if you were playing a game like Red Steel, you'd feel a kickback when you shoot a gun or resistance when your kanata collides with someone else's kanata in game.

Do NOT turn this into a "Revo will suck I'm not getting it" thread. Seriously! It's getting ridiculous and it will only turn into some big arguement/debate that could have been avoided had you not made a negetive comment on a public message board that didn't ask your opinion. If it's not your cup of tea, let it be.

Alright. Thank You.

^_^

I actually have a link to the translated article... Now I have to find it.

But I don't have time now.

EDIT: OH, and Nintendo Revo has a NEW name! (finally)

Go here to see what it is.

More news on "Wii"
http://revolutionfanboy.com/
Confirmed: Revolution now called Wii
Posted Apr 27th 2006 12:43PM by David Hinkle
Filed under: News, Controller

I guess Revolution wasn't a good enough name for Nintendo, so they decided to go with the name Wii (pronounced 'we') for their next generation console. I have to say that, honestly, I'm a bit disappointed. I liked the name Revolution as it really described what the system and company's goals were for changing the industry. Nintendo had this to say in regards to the name change:

"Introducing ... Wii. As in "we." While the code-name "Revolution" expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer. Wii will break down that wall that separates video game players from everybody else. Wii will put people more in touch with their games ... and each other. But you're probably asking: What does the name mean?"

"Wii sounds like 'we,' which emphasizes this console is for everyone. Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii."

"Wii has a distinctive "ii" spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people gathering to play. And Wii, as a name and a console, brings something revolutionary to the world of video games that sets it apart from the crowd."

"So that's Wii. But now Nintendo needs you. Because, it's really not about you or me. It's about Wii. And together, Wii will change everything."

The line "Wii has a distinctive "ii" spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers" raises an eyebrow on this blogger's face. Maybe the rumors of the system being bundled with two remotes isn't such a far-fetched idea after all?

What say you all?

Information about the force feedback:
Canadian internet radio station Radio-Talbot recently spoke with Nintendo of Canada's Director of Marketing Pierre-Paul Trepanier in an interview centered around the Revolution. Two major points, force feedback and how the system will be able to measure the movement of the remote, were discussed.

In response to the query of force feedback being a possibility with the remote, Pierre said "Yes there's feedback in it even though it is wireless, we will show more at E3. Before in our wireless controllers, we didn't put feedback because of battery life problems but now we have found a way to do it without lowering the battery life of the remote."

I'm still pretty sure this force feedback thing is rumble capabilities. On another note, I can't take Nintendo seriously now. Hope calls her Siamese kitten "Wii." Now every time someone talks about "Wii" I'm going to think of a Siamese cat.

However, imagine this scenario...

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's rumble technology, too, now that I've thought back on the articles I've read on it.

The way the talk about how it wasn't included in the wavebird because it was wireless just points toward rumble. but, hey! It would be awesome if it did have Full Force Feedback, huh?

...
i think it's just "we"... i think it's stated many places... but ... i dunno...

I think, like others have stated before, that Revolution was a better title and that Nintendo should have stuck with that... Wii... just... sounds odd... ... And I can't even take it seriously and I LIKE Nintendo... *wonders what the scoffers think now*

Nintendo Wii?!

That`s even worse than Playstation Dolphin.
All of Nintendo`s names that differ from Revo are bathroom references.

I still think "N5" pwns.

Wow, Nintendo really hit me there with a surprise right hook. Wii? I just heard about it, so I'm REALLY weird'd right now.... but, as I think about, it'll probably grow on me. I mean, at least it's not called the Gizmondo. Seriously.

Are you including multi-platform games on the list in the first post?
Activision and Raven software have announced the action-RPG Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, in the tradition of X-men Legends I & II.
Alltogether, it will be available on the Wii, X360, PS3, PS2, XBox, PSP, GBA, and PC.

As for the name Wii, well, they could have chosen something that wasn't as easy to make puns off of...

At first, I thought it was pronounced "Why." So I started saying, "Why, Nintendo? Why?"

I'm hoping for a North American name change at this point. Sorta how the Famicom got changed to Nintendo Entertainment System.

Even more on "Wii"

DailyTech wrote:Interestingly, when we did a trademark search for "Wii," the only trademark we come up with is for a razor company that had its trademark canceled in 1993. Yet, the Wii name clearly has a trademark logo in the flash video.

Source: http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=2016

EDIT AGAIN: More than that, the name has been unveiled and known for a long time, yet the board at nintendo.com remains "Revolution" instead of "Wii".

Is "Wii" an N-Game? I'll keep ya updated. ^_^ (btw, I'm not one of those "zomg! Conspiracy!" type fans. I ust thought this was interesting.)

IGN interview about "Wii": http://revolution.ign.com/articles/703/703593p1.html

The name Wii, over today, has really grown on me. I like the uniqueness of Wii. Something about it seems High-Tech, and it has a good message. Personally, I really like this new name. Revo was good, but Wii is too. Just let it sink in. Just like the controller has. That's all I have to say.

Also:

I've heard that someone from Nintendo says that "Wii" has a secret message.

I wonder what it is...?

What do you think it stands for?

Someone from the Nintendo Forums says that he thinks the code is in the two i's in the word "Wii", As in two eyes. See the Revolution. (at least that's what I remember.

EDIT: I don't know what's up about "Wii" not being trademarked, though, when the revolution.nintendo.com trailer thingy had a trademark sign next to the word Wii... I wonder if it just hasn't been cleared yet...?
