Time Sync
This might sound like a small problem, but my computer can't update the computer time anymore. An error always occurs. I wouldn't generally find this a problem, but I believe it is messing up programs that have a trial date because they go off the computer clock to find how long they have been on, and won't work if there has been any time tampering. I don't really know if it is the source of my current problems with one of my trial programs, but I want to make sure before I go and try to install the program again. Any advice?

Well, I still haven't solved my problem. I had a friend who is slightly better with computers try stuff out. He tried to ping the time servers listed, none of them worked. I still have no clue what's wrong with it and my programs still won't open.

Does it only happen when you try to update the time in Windows (or whatever OS you use), or in the BIOS settings as well?

actually, i believe that the trial programs use a method where they record the last time they were on. using this, you can write a program that sets the time as 1 minute afterwards every time it runs, and use it for the full 60 days, or whatever.
besides that, i dunno... that's odd...

under clock settings (Internet Time tab), you can chose what server you want to update from. I know I had problems with my clock when Micro$oft's time server went down. Just chose another server and manually update and you'll be good to go yeah.

So far it only happens in Windows that I know of, because BIOS doesn't make any sense to me so I don't like messing with it. My friend might have tried that, I don't know...

Well, I've gotten an error on a different trial program from the same company that wouldn't let you use the program if the clock had been edited, but it had happened after I ran it once before so it just brought up a message that said to update the clock in order to use the program. But this time I've never even opened the program once so I'm wondering if it just won't open until I can get the Internet time to work right. Of course, I still want the time to work right even without the program.

That's the problem, it won't let me update it at all. I tried like half the servers, none of them worked.
