Ahh, RahXephon, a great show and a great review True_Noir_Chloe. Thanks. My thoughts on it were exactly the same. (I also like the setup for reviews now... haven't read one in a long time...it's nice) :)

Good review.

Just a slight correction however. The manga version is being released by Viz, not ADV Manga.

Something called the Rahxephon Bible was released by ADV Manga but the actual manga is being released by Viz.

Yes, I wrote I wasn't sure on if it was ADV manga, basically just a guess on my part. Thanks for filling us in, MasterDias. ^_^

I bought the Raxhephon Bible for my son at Christmas, since he loves the art, as do I. It's a pretty nice little reference book and it's not too expensive.

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

I barely read the review just now, I gotta say I 100% agree with what was stated about it. I also had the void filled with the more hopeful ending of RahXephon opposed to NGE's tortured ending full of despair. And the artwork is absolutely gorgeous, certainly a gotta see anime.

Thanks for the review - I've been waiting for this one for a while now. Is the nudity clearly shown or is it shaded or understated? I'm guessing it isn't that big of a problem since you didn't rate it very high at all. I'm going to have to get this one soon.

IW as wondering about this myself. How is it compared to-- say, a Sailor Moon transformation?
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

The nudity is done in an artful manner and only backsides are really seen, or undetailed body silhouettes. There might be some frontal toward the last episodes, when they are becoming one with the Raxhephons. You might be able to compare it to Sailor Moon's transformation, Osaka, I guess. Quon is probably shown more in the last few shows nude. It's not blatant. I've been in art galleries and seen paintings with much more showing... and detail.

You have to remember, Raxhephon is rated 15 + and it is for a reason toward the end of the series. I honestly don't mind nudity as long as it's not meant to demean a woman, or for fan service, or gratuitous in any way. The instances in Raxhephon were for none of those reasons, and it was only in a few episodes they even attempt to place the characters nude.

2 things I noticed that were left out that would be objection:

Ok, it's been about a years since I watched the series and I'm slowly buying the DVDs but I remember 2 parts that might be worth mentioning:

There is a part where Ayato dreams and his hand is on an inapproprite on Haruka... think she might've been nude, can't remember.

Also, on the last episode, didn't that one girl change her voice and announce she was the creator/God or something before getting shot?

First of all, hi Tenshi no Ai, I love your avatar - KIBA!!!

Now, you're right in mentioning these parts. They were in the show; but, I recall the dream-like scene with Ayato and Haruka as not showing all that much. Probably the aggression of the scene was more mature than anything else.

And, regarding the last comment about the psycho gal - well, yeah she was actually... (I don't want to put a spoiler here). Umm, let's see without giving away the whole ending, let's just say if you're commenting on this scene as blasphemous I saw it more of a tyrannical comment, than blasphemous, by a very powerful person of a company.

Okay, thanks for your comments Tenshi no Ai. ^___^

I just bought the movie last week. It's pretty good, a more romantic retelling of the whole series. But see the whole series first the movie ruins some stuffs for ya.
Maybe our mistakes are what make our fate. Without them, what would shape our lives? Perhaps if we never veered off course, we wouldn't fall in love, or have babies, or be who we are. After all, seasons change. So do cities. People come into your life and people go. But it's comforting to know the ones you love are always in your heart. And if you're very lucky, a plane ride away.

I need to say that this review needs some fixing cuz the sexuality and nudity is more present then what it is said to be. nothing overly offensive but none the less it is their

The review does mention Quon's and Ayato's nudity, but not much on fanservice. I'm guessing the reviewer took a literal interpretation of Sex and Nudity.
