Fafner and Mermaid Forest

Just dropping by to ask for a Christian perspective on Fafner and Mermaid Forest. I just bought the vol. 1 w/ box for Fafner today on a big sale, and my brother did the same for Mermaid. But we haven't seen these yet. Can anyone tell me what they thought of them and more importantly, what the content is like (especially in the spiritual department)?

I've never heard of Mermaid Forest, Jeikobu, but there's another Fafner thread that's only a couple days old down a little farther from your thread here. It has a few thoughts on Fafner... I don't think many people have watched it here in America yet. I seem to be in the minority of people who actually enjoyed the series.

Mermaid Forest is a very dark title (probably one of the darkest things Takahashi has ever done). It's focus is on a young man and woman who are traveling together. Both at one point in their past have eaten mermaid flesh which bestows upon an individual immortality. If I were to go into too much detail of any given aspect of the series it would raise a lot of spoilers. Let me just give emphasis again to the fact that it is very dark, very violent and at times very bloody.

You can agree with me that title sounds the dead opposite of dark, right?

But yes, I agree, it is a very dark story. It gives me a whole new outlook on Mermaids. o_o
