I heard GrandVally State University (way up here in MI) has a con every year in or around March. I dunno if its good, but i am going to look into it and go if it sounds fun. I may also drive out the the Con Spiritsword was talking about, that is if i can drag a buncha friends with me for the drive :brow: ...lol. Road Trips are a lot of fun.

Yea spiritsword, I think it would be a good project for CAA to come up with an anime con! I think many of us would attend including me *raises hand and jumps up and down*. We need to get the moderators and ashley - founder- in on this!

Here's another site I found that shows more cons all over.

KiraKira, like your avatar! Wizard from AL right?!

Anyone got any ideas for the Christian anime con? LIke places or events or anything?! I think it'd be good and it'd be nice to be able to attend a con where you know it'll be free of fanservice and stuff like that.

Hey, I've never been to a con and won't mind sneaking off to one within Michigan territory in the middle of the semester. ;)

An event that allows us to meet up face to face rather than just online would be great like the Christian Anime Con suggestion. You know, I've always wanted to meet up with CAA aspiring Cmanga artists...I think most of them are in Texas...like Inky, Psycho Ann...

Straylight did this before Christmas last year. It's the only formal one I know of.http://www.christiananime.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3853

Rashiir did another one many, many, many months ago. That was only for Texans and Californians though. http://www.christiananime.net/forums/showthread.php?t=860

ooh cool, thanks!

Nice to see that many are from California and Texas. It'll be nice if those in U.S got to meet up in one of those states...hehe

At the risk of being OT, thought how ironic it was that few members (if any) are from Asia itself (considering that anime/manga is kinda Asian based hehe). Sure hope it doesn't mean there just aren't many christian anime fans in Asia. Technically, I'm from Asia despite my current location, Michigan since I'm not a resident of U.S. ^^

Ok, to keep closer to the topic, from what I recall, despite the rampancy and abundancy of manga/anime in my country, there isn't any cons that exist. I think the nearest available cons in my area would be in Singapore. I was introduced to the concepts of anime cons in U.S. which judging from this thread alone, is really popular all over U.S

At the end of this month / beginning of february there is Ushicon. I've not gone there before but I hear that it's quite a bit of fun.

I guess that Koda Kumi, the girl who sang the song for FFX-2 will be making her first US appearence. I suppose that's something.
Why does the business of growing up - one's recollections of growth itself - have to be so tragic? I still haven't found the answer. I doubt if anyone has. When I finally reach that stage at which the placid wisdom of old age, with the dry clarity that comes toward autumn's end, occasionally descends on a person, then I too may suddenly discover that I too understand. But I doubt whether, by that time, understanding will have much point.Yukio Mishima

I'm definately going to Anime Weekend Atanta this September. I went last year for the first time on Saturday, and it was very awesome. [I've never seen so much anime packed into one place!] The atmosphere in anime cons are usually very peppy and friendly, and it's a great place to run around crazy.

I'm getting a summer job at my dad's store so I can save mucho money to spend at the con. I'm looking mainly for music and artbooks, but I'll be scouring the place for those Genki Girl custom beanie hats. :p I visited her website, and she lives in Georgia, so...:D That's really what I want to do, lol, put on a floppy-eared beanie hat and run around being happy. ^_^

So a CAA con would most likely be in CA or TX huh? Darn . . . west coast . . . I'm on east coast. Oh well.
I want to go to AMA in Richmond in May, hopefully be dressed up for hall contest . . . maybe.
^_^
Just curious, anyone going to, "the big one", Otakon?

RrrrrrRRRRRrrrRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!! I've been after getting people together for a CaliforniaCon for months!!! :bang:

If I name a place, date and time, would there be interest? Place is most likely to be San Diego area or Thousand Oaks/Agoura Hills (north LA), mostly because I can swing set up in these locations more easily.

Perhaps some of the Texas ppl could meet up at Oni-Con in Houston in Oct. I could advertise it at Anime Angels too. Let me know! Since I'm on the staff there I can probably get us a specific place to meet....

I know I'm going to Ohayocon and Anime Central. I might be going to Colossalcon and Otacon as well. I've never been to one before, and Ohayocon will be my first.

Jafax is the only con in michigan, but my university's anime club is hoping to start one up. We need one in the South Eastern part of Michigan. It is a project that we are working on, and is one reason we are going to so many cons this year.

I love college... I'd never have the opportunity to go to a con if I didn't meet my anime friends there...

I've been going to cons since 2000. I try to hit up as many as I can during each season. That's 3 Otakons, 3 Katsucons, and 3 Nekocons. Nekocon 2003 was my first shot at running my own panel. I guess it went pretty well considering how small the con is. I'm pretty much down for any con in Maryland or Virginia.

And while the thought of a Christian Anime Convention is totally awesome, might I suggest a panel at first? They are suprisingly easy to get (believe me) and they're a good way to generate even more interest. Eh, you never know.
