I'm a huge fan of the classic Gundam series (0079), and while I do prefer it over SEED, I still find SEED very entertaining. Sure, there's a lot of teen angst, but it's still good. Too slow in the beginning, but the latter half is excellent. (And the music is good, too. ;) )

I'm a Gundam fanboy, and I like most flavors of Gundam, thank you. :) Except G-Gundam. Not much plot going on there, IMO.

And just a friendly mod reminder: Let's not get heated and start bashing people who like certain shows. This is a thread about anime that scared people, not a thread about insulting fans of certain shows. There's criticism and then there's just plain meanness. So everyone play nice. Okay? Okay. :thumb:

And, finally, for my two cents on an anime that scared me (and to get the thread on-topic again), I would have to say Boogiepop Phantom. That show freaked me out.

I'm a fan of SEED and I've seen two other Gundam Series, one OVA and a movie....no...two movies now that I think about it. Of course, I don't really count G Gundam as being with the others....
Personally, I have no clue why I like SEED more. But it is the only one that I've really liked the characters for. If I don't like the characters, why would I really care how good the storyline is or what happens to them?

As for anime that scared me-
The commercials for Kakurenbo freaked me out. I didn't mind the actual show that much, though(meaning it still freaked me out a bit). I'm not really much of a fan of scary shows, probably only watched it since it was Halloween.

Paranoia Agent was kinda freaky but I usually found it more interesting than scary. Most of the time I just laughed at what was happening, especially the suicide episode....that was so funny....

The Jungle Cruise episode of GitS:SAC made me cringe. It wasn't scary so much as...just...wrong...and painful looking...and I just had to leave the room everytime that scene came up. *shudders* How could anybody DO that to another person?!

Ya know, despite my usually nervousness and fear of creature violent stuff (namely big, man-eating ones o_o ), I actually love the Hollows in Bleach. The design has that odd abstractness I like in my own stuff.

Let's see anime that scared me, besides Hamtaro? Well, there's Vampire Hunter D, just the dark atmosphere of the whole thing. What else...Fist of the North Star was just hard to comprehend to me, not so much scary as shockingly bizarre, and Grappler Baki, the sheer graphic detail of the violence in it blew my mind.

You guys might not even consider this anime, but in all seriousness the Transformers movie gave me this incredibly disturbing feeling, like I just shouldn't be watching it, as silly as that sounds.

Episode 25 of Gankutsuou (The Count of Monte Cristo). For those who have seen the first few eps. If you think the count on a rampage was creepy, you haven't seen anything yet. I think I could see it in my sleep.

I can’t remember the name.
But the thing didn’t stay in the DVD player more than three minutes.

It was the most disgusting sadomasochistic thing I have ever seen.

*has a feeling it was Elfen Lied* cause most of the bad violence of the show (as a hook on "coolness" for some I guess) can be seen at the very beginning of the show. That is, if the show involved a naked girl with a mask on killing a bunch of security guys, that would be it :/ Although I've heard of the title "Dead Leaves" that was pretty grusome too :/

 Yes, it was an incredible anime as well. I really enjoyed it. But it WAS really disturbing in the mind, not so "ooohh" and "aahhh!" but like "oh my gosh... that was freakishly disturbing". It tends to play with your mind more so than use suspense as it's scare tactic.

Both 20th Century Boys and Monster was also playing mind tricks on me. Well one part in Monster really scared me
When Rudy Gillen (the criminal psychologist) was looking in the basement of a home and found all these dolls. And the camera then closed up on one. Freaked me like mad crazy
With 20th Century Boys, that manga is pretty disconnected from Reality at some parts, and it really plays with your mind a while lot, and leaves you disturbed.

Um I don't think it was that.

I don’t want to say more. I would rather not think about it.

I don't know if "scared" is the right word, but Gilgamesh really wigged me out. I would hazard to say that in all honesty, I had a genuine check in my spirit about the show. I only saw the first disc, but by the time it was done, something just didn't settle right, and I think the Holy Spirit was nudging me on this one. Anime, compared to alot of mainstream movies and entertainment, can be exceptionally dark or forebodying (i.e. Witch Hunter Robin, Evangelion, perhaps Chrono Crusade to some extent), but this show left me feeling as though there was perhaps something more dangerously poignant or one might even say evil under the surface. Now, obviously I have not finished th show due to the above mentioned reasons, but yeah I would say this one was one that definitely threw me for a loop O.o

Elfenlied definatly made my jaw drop a couple times especially that one scene involving the dog (not gonna say anymore) But as the series went on I kinda became totally dulled to any violence in it whatsoever. One anime that did scare me a bit was Iria when i was around 12 i watched it. Mutants were creepy :O

An anime that recently scared me (Or just left me ill at ease...) was Samuari X: The Motion Picture. I mean, it was a good movie, but in a way it was pretty unsettling with the bloodshed, adn the design of Kenshin was very different from the TV anime version.

Speed Grapher. Only watched ep. 1, but that was enough. Not scary in terms of terror, but rather just really & truly disturbing. And I hear it goes downhill from there. Sad, b/c the art was pretty sweet. But man...violence & other sick content. -_-
