My greatest cosplay project ever

Postby desperado » Mon Mar 20, 2006 5:11 pm

With the sucess (besides the crappy wig) of illpalazo I move onto my greatest cosplay undertaking yet....to do full armor haseo from the upcoming .//hack g.u.

I wont spoil everything on how im going to make it but im making boots out of pleather and steel, the chest and shoulders out of steel and the gauntlets out of pleather and steel. I havent decied completely one how to make the "cape" yet.
for pictures go here http://www.dothackers.net I highly suggest watching the two trailers.

Also by the way if I have some time to spare im making the sword out of a rc motor (if it has enough power) steel and foam for the teeth (it has to be able to get into cons you know)

Post if you have any suggestions for the sword or the armor in itself

Haha honestly the hardest part is going to get my stomach to a new level of muscley. Because its flat and kinda got muscle but to show it off as is, is not something I want to do. Oi going to hit the gym quite a bit as I work on this cosplay....

Armor = foam. You can also carve yourself some stomach muscles out of foam; they can be part of the costume.

Cut out shapes from thin sheets of foam whenever possible.

This is getting made from metal and pleather. I have never used foam besides on props and I dont intend to start, metal is so much more never rackingly fun...
Also why not give myself an excuse to work out more? Be more fun as well.

Ok I do beleive I will reveal a little bit about how I intend on pulling this off.

chest peice= pop riveting sheet metal together simple as that with leather or pleather straps holding it together and (i need to find first) belt buckles or clasps to tighten it down

gauntlets= a mid forarm length black glove with metal claws that have holes put into them and use thick leather shoe string or such "sew" them through the holes to the the finger part of the glove, also have stuffing filled "spikes along the midarm"

feet= not entirely finalized but it involves making a high shin length boot using the same pleather/leather then pop riviting the metal foot strip onto the sides (a shoe will be under all this and the leather will be attached through the metal pop rivest and sewing.

cape thing= pleather strips with possibly wood spikes running along it.

shoulder peices= the chest armor will go out over the shoulder and the spikey part itself will be attached to the bicep area. this will be made out of metal as usual, clamp on in a similar way to the chest peice but it will still be attached to the arms, just needs to be tightened down when put on

Foam is easier and plus you can easily make it look like metal with the right paints. The metal is going to be way, way, way too heavy. You have been forewarned. ^^;;;

Last two cosplays of mine have been metal, balmung .//hack and illpalazo excell saga. It is sheet metal so its not terribly bad and the metal is only slightly greater then the balmung thing, I can handle the weight but the heat from metal + vinyl/leather/pleather is going to kill me... at least the stomach is open...

edit
Also there is something magical with hearing someone come by and say "Wow...thats real metal.... how in the world did you do that"

sounds like uber-tightness

[color=#000000]Me: "Hey, what's her last name?"

Brett: "Doesn't matter. It's going to change anyway."

Brett: "Why do they call it tourist season if you can't shoot them?"
