It's interesting when you think about it that Chiriho's parents paid the wage of their sin of gluttony by being turned into pigs.I think it was more their gluttonious behavior that led them to being turned into pigs then anything they actually ate, although that was probably part of it.The number of pigs in the piggery though made me wonder if others had fallen under the same sort of spell.
Any way being the third time and the second time I saw the whole thing I have to say it just gets better.

I found Kiki's Delivery Service to be really good. Haven't seen Spirited Away though.

I always figured since it is said Yubaba has the power to change people into pigs or other such that it was heavily implied but not explicitly stated that she acted to change them into pigs in vengeance for their eating the kami's food, hence her "they got what they deserved".

I saw it too. I've heard so many good things about Miyazaki and especially Spirited Away so when CN advertised that they were showing it I had to watch it.

Ironically enough, the day it showed, my internet died for that whole day so I was able to devote all of my small attention span towards watching it. Otherwise, I would of ended up multitasking and missing three quarters of it.

Anyways, I watched it and I loved it! I wish I had the dvd that is one of the few things that I can bear seeing more than once.

Spirited Away is one of my absolute favorite Miyazaki movies along with Howl's Moving Castle. I've had the dvd since it came out a couple years ago.

I saw it a few years ago and decided to watch again since it was on. Besides the barrage of CN-type commercials every 10 minutes, I enjoyed it. As well, my mother who enjoys Miyazaki's films, watched it with me. Actually, she told me it was going to be on and wanted to know if I wanted to watch it. I had to explain some of the religious and cultural elements but overall, she enjoyed it.

I like the commercial breaks, if you have a good DS game you now have five minutes to play it. (especially if you have a short attention span and need to play video games, but my attention span is fi...)

I almost cried when Yubaba's spell on Haku was broken.

I really enjoy Miyazaki's work, including Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Laputa Castle In The Sky, My Neighbor Toroto and especially Whisper of the Heart. Plus his older works are fantastic also.

Spirited Away is a great work of anime for sure.

It aired on TCM when they did the month-long Ghibli Fest.

However, it's not a Miyazaki film.

Didn't he write the script but just didn't direct it or something like that?

Oh and for the record, I wasn't exactly a fan of the movie :/ It was just... a bit too slow and stuff for my tastes^^ Reminded me of Only Yesterday, which was slow and dragged on somewhat (although I did enjoy the first half of the childhood memories).

Miyazaki-san was the director, producer, screenplay and storyboard... yea, he was involved in it.

Whisper of the Heart, a simple "coming of age" anime wasn't suppose to have the pace of Spirited Away. I liked each anime for it's own merits. Whisper of the Heart I could sit down and watch with my daughter as opposed to some other animes.

Wish Turner Classics would revisit the works of Miyazaki-san like they did in Feb. That was fantastic for TCM to do that.

Spirited Away is an excellent and gorgeous film to watch. It's one of the few movies I have seen with repeated viewings. Being the first of the Miyazaki movies I've encountered, it's paved the way for other of his great works.

Spirited away is actaully the only Miyazaki film I've been able to get a hold of and watch all the way through.
I really enjoyed it and the story line had some serious depth to it as well as some good comedy lines. I have to admit that its got my interested in Miyazaki's work and I wouldn't mind seeing it again.
Will insert something intelligent here later... maybe

What took you so long? Lol. Spirited Away is one of my all time favorite anime movies!!! So beautiful. Gotta love the Radish Spirit too. If you're looking for more Miyazaki's I reccomended Castle in the Sky (movie) or Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind (manga...or movie too I guess, but the manga is better).

Actually, he only did the screenplay.

The director was Yoshifumi Kondou.
