I missed the boat folks. The Metal Gear fan mod has missed the boat. I just called my local EB and there already out of the Special Edition reserving. Now my question is, will the SE be a very limited thing? Or do you guys think stores will continue to get them in? I really wanted that movie disk it had. I am browsing Ebay now for the other disk you got for preordering. Someone please tell me that the SE will be in stores a while... :(

Nearly every EB Games and Gamestop I called was out of the special edition already (This is because they idiotically gave the special 3rd DVD away just for slapping $5 down...Morons aren't supposed to give the promo items until the game is RELEASED)

Find a Game Crazy at Hollywood Video, I went to the one near me and they assured me I'd get the special edition with all 3 DVD's.

Man, but I really can't wait for this to get out...Online Play, 3rd person rotating camera, new camo. And, the best of all...Metal Gear 1 and 2 for the MSX.

Tis' gonna be great stuff.

Are you sure? I got my free master quest Ocarina of Time game when I preordered The Windwaker. I had to talk to the lady so she'd understand that it was Windwaker that was 50 dollars, NOT master quest. I was supposed to get masters quest for FREE when preordering. It finally got to her head XD

Wait a minute... The limited edition comes with THREE DVD's? EB and GameStop's websites only list one DVD. :?:

The Special Edition has one extra disk for preordering which are like interviews with Kojima. (You can snag that on Ebay) The only other extra disk that the SE has, is that it comes with a DVD that basicly made a movie of all the cutscnes in MG3.

Btw, if someone found a link to a site selling the Special Editions...I would love you forever.

*shrugs* I preordered it at a Gamestop earlier this week, then cancelled it and went to an EB and preordered it today because I'll be in a different city during Spring Break. The EB still had a preorder sku for it, though that may change by Saturday. *shrugs* I know from personal knowledge when I managed an EB that if you get a preorder on a title up to the day before it ships (read: the day before the store gets it) then it usually (not always) goes through fulfillment and the order gets placed. It wouldn't hurt to just drop in personally, and if nothing else get your name on this list if one of the preorders doesn't pick theirs up. 48 hours and it's yours.

Oh, and the Metal Gear Saga Volume 1 DVD (the Kojima interviews) is a bonus for pre-ordering EITHER version. There are plenty of these things floating around, and I bet they'll make more in a marketing shipment, which comes any time from Fri-Mon.

As far as contents, this is what each version has for anyone that is curious or confused:

(Both) Disc 1 -- Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater, third person camera mode, demo theater, and link capability with Metal Gear Acid 2 on PSP.

(Both) Disc 2 -- Online mode, Duel mode (bosses only), new Snake Vs. Monkey levels, Secret Theater (Parody videos), ports of MSX versions of Metal Gear 1 and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake.

(Limited Edition Only) Disc 3 -- MGS3: The Movie (cutscenes and radio chatter strung together to form one 3hr, 40min movie), and the MGS4 trailer.

Paid for in full? You betcha. :thumb:

Hmm. It would not hurt to go into EB and get on the list incase someone backs out. They did say though they were already sold out. But, you never know. Good call Duck. Good call. I won the Saga movie tonight on Ebay. With shipping and all, it cost me around 17 bucks. Little high, but its mine.

I'm kind of mad at myself now, because I'm selling my PSP. It'll be a shame to not get the benefits from the Ac!d 2 Linkup...

Thanks for the explanation! I hope I can go preorder...! Times like this I hate not being able to drive...

EDIT: Well, my GameCrazy has already stopped taking pre-orders, and EBgames ran out of the DVD's... Bummer. Guess I'll buy the regular edition game then. (or wait an extra week to see if they get another shipment of the SE)

This is one of the hidden videos... I'm watching all of them, but I'm not gonna spoil it for those of you waiting for Subsistance... That, and number 4 contains something mildly homoerotic, but the end of it makes it all worth it... This one's clean, though... And then the last one, "Metal Gear Sigint" It's really long, and sorta drags but there are a couple parts that make it worth it (also can't post because of eva-service...)

Don't hold your breath on "other" shipments of the SE. From what I am hearing online, Konami did this on purpose. Make few copies, hard to get. Making there own shortage basicly. There will be plenty of the regular one...but I don't even think there doing a second wave of the SE. Best of luck to ya though. I have given up hope of getting the SE. I will be better next time about preordering. I have learned my lesson now.

Like I said before, if you're looking to get the Limited Edition copy, go to Game Rush or Game Crazy. They're not nearly visited as often as GS or EBX (Game Crazy is where I managed to pick up my copy of Disgaea).

The cutscenes thing isn't merely cutscenes... It's cutscenes plus NEW cutscenes that replace the game action scenes with cutscens... In other words, it's a whole movie, at least that's my understanding. So, 10 dollars for a movie isn't bad. Not at all.

I'm just worried about the new camera system. I like systems like Silent Hill or like MGS2 and MGS3... Making it more like KH or .hack is stupid... I hate those "you control the camera" cameras... It's a big hassle to have to worry about the camera while you play...

First thing's first...

I've never set up my PS2 for online play, but you better believe I will now.

I'll probably play online, you have to log 50 hours online to unlock the Rumble Roses characters... not that I care about them specifially, I just want to suplex a guard.
