Okay what is the deal? Is there any story that actually goes wiht it? Kinda reminds me of a character off of the game Way of the Samurai, also pretty low-rate. Who knows, we MAY like it...

Apparently Mr. Jackson was quite enthusiastic about the idea of doing the series.

I hope the gravedig will be forgiven as the thread can be useful again.

Afro Samurai supposedly premiers in November on Spike TV, though it is not listed in their line up as it stands now. Apparently, though all of 5 episodes its financial backers are expecting a gold mine; the DVD will be released in 2007, Namco is making video games about it, and there is a live action movie starring Mr. Jackson in the works.

From AnimeInfo: After watching his father die in a duel against an unbeatable villian known only as 'Justice,' young Afro fixes his life on the study of swords and revenge. The tale of Afro Samurai is one of bloody hardship and pain. Along his solitary path of revenge for his murdered father, he sheds no tears and knows no love. Forever chased by powerful enemies in a lawless technology-speckled dystopia, he evades bullets and blade to reach his final prey: a man who will not die. But Afro will reach his quarry - even if it means painting a road of blood and brains from here to the bitter inevitable end.

The official site is up, complete with trailer. Be warned, the trailer is very bloody and Mr. Jackson uses d--n, and drops the two worded version of the f-bomb. Good looking animation and beautiful soundtrack though. But I'm thinking I won't like this one.

I'm thinking I will love this because it is Samuel L. Jackson. And he is the man. Actually, he is more than the man, but I cannot say that phrase on CAA. But since everything he does rules, this, logic dictates, will also rule.

This is the best idea ever. Seriously, like, ever. This is even better than Snakes on a Plane. It's like... Samurais on an Afro.

They think so. They gave it a budget of 1 million dollars an episode. It premiers in the US and Japan and the same time, and the Japanese version will use Samuel L. Jackson's voice too, translating the English into Japanese subtitles. He is acutally doing both the main characters voice and the sidekicks voice.
I said I didn't think I'd like it because it looks too bloody for me and I dislike swearing. But, the plot and character developement look just fine. And I already mentioned the animation and music quality.

Anime that is in English and subtitled into Japanese? Wow, never saw that coming

This looks like it could be interesting though. I don't love gore and swearing, but I think it's acceptable in cases. Did you have a link for the official site?

I have been to the official site like a few months back. I will not put the link up here. You have to verify that you are 18 or older to enter the webpage.
