Concerning Love Hina, I've seen the first two episodes of the anime, and read the first four volumes of the manga.

For the manga, I would say I found the excessive ecchi to be on the verge of disgusting/annoying, but I wouldn't say that there is no plot or story involved. In fact, the core of the plot centres around Keitaro trying to get into Tokyo U in order to meet up with the girl he promised 15 years ago to meet at Tokyo U (because there is a legend that such a promise will lead them to be married). Although he gets into a lot of perverted situations, (more because he is clumsy, stupid, and unlucky than anything else) he does hold steadfast to his mission to find that one true love that he promised to those 15 years ago.

That promise is repeatedly emphasized throughout the storyline, and I've found myself turning the page simply because I wanted to know if he ever does find that girl he made that promise to.

After all, doesn't that seem to be a noble purpose? To meet that one true love that he intends to marry? So far, his interest in the girls in the manga consist mostly of not wanting to get hurt by them, not wanting to hurt their feelings, and wondering if one of them could be the girl he made that promise to.

As far as I can tell, Keitaro remains relatively pure from actual explicit conduct (although not accidental explicit contact), possibly to remain a virgin for his wedding night with that promised true love...

I haven't read the whole manga though so I have no idea if he actually remains pure and finds his true love . . .

Love Hina is NOT h.entai! If it were, then I wouldn't even touch it. The fan service does not go so far as to actually show the illegal areas. The angles are always drawn so that you cannot actually see everything. Even during the bath scenes, something will always be in the way, whether it be a towel, hair, or [Insert random inert object].

So, it has a lot of ecchi fan service, but at its core the intent of the characters seem almost honourable . . . Of course, I could be completely wrong about this all.

Does anyone know if Keitaro ever finds his true love? (The girl he promised the Tokyo U thing to?)

Anyway, to sum up if it is right for you. If you have any trouble dealing with ecchi and/or semi-explicit scenes, then avoid this like the plague. If you are mature enough to ignore the perverted humour or simply laugh at its absurdity, then you may be able to handle this.

I could go so far as to say that Love Hina is a social commentary as to the amount of fan service in anime, the levels of exaggerated fan service in the series seems too comical and the amount of pain Keitaro endures, and the number of times he is labelled a pervert, seems over the top.

Also, to clarify the difference between Shonen and Shoujo:

Shonen - Manga aimed at young and/or teenage boys
I.E. Kenshin, Dragonball, Love Hina, etc.

Shoujo - Manga aimed at young and/or teenage girls
I.E. Cardcaptors, Magic Knights Rayearth, etc.

As far as Inuyashi goes, I've seen the first few episodes and found it very interesting/entertaining. The only thing that could be remotely dangerous is the mysticism, and implied Zen Buddist philosophy (reincarnation of the priestess in the girl, etc.) but that is fairly minor and based on a fantasy context that simply coincides with Japanese tradition.

This is all based on the Anime, not the manga since I didn't read all of the Manga
The one he promised to actually ends up being like a half sister or something, and she holds a juvenile crush on him the whole time, but the one he was actually in love with at the end was the little girl who received the stuffed animal thing (I forgot what it was) which ended up being Narusegawa. She had a crush on him and her first words were >>>tokyo u<<< because that's what keitaro said he would do was go there. So it ends up that the girl he wanted to be with all along was Narusegawa... The girl who was only middle of the road abusive
This manga/Anime essentially takes the format of a dating sim and it's all about "What does he do right and wrong to make which girls like or hate him?" and that's really the focus... Dating sims are pretty big in Japan, but practically non-existant in the US. The first big Dating sim in the US was graduation... Well, other than the Hentai dating sims which number into the hundreds... We rarely see good non-hentai anime games in the US, because there just has been no real market for them. Some exceptions exist on consoles (DBZ, Yu-gi-oh, and a couple others) but the majority of anime games released never see the light of day in the US. (Actually, princess maker 2 had a limited release and bombed big time and I don't think the company that translated it exists anymore...)

Umm... Since We're talking about Love hina manga, the stories for the manga and anime are essentially the same except for some slight differences chronologically and a few different details (for instance, the non-violent girl shows up at a different time)

Right . . . okay . . . interesting . . .

Well, thanks for the spoiler . . . now to figure out how that factors in to my evaluation of the anime . . .

Um... You know there is a reason I put
SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER etc.. in two lines before and after that right? so when you quote my whole spoiler but not the warning... Um...

Oh and if you didn't want a spoiler, you shouldn't read where I specifically warn of them.

Anyhow yeah... Please don't post or include spoilers even in quotes without explicit warning.

I think there's like a spoiler tag or button, or some dilly.
We have a lovely little spoiler button that works quite well. The code is [_spoiler="insert title here"] message [_/spoiler] minus the _ of course.
If you hadn't put the underscores there, would it have been a spoiler button within a spoiler button?

Actually, no. The first
will cancel out the entire spoiler button, and the second
will just be shown as text.

well I didn't know that... Still, I go on forums that don't have that lovely option and what I did is pretty standard form...

and which button is it?? don't see a button here anywhere... I see Bold, Italics, Underline, left align, center, right align, indent, list, insert pic, insert link, quote, insert code, insert Php, color, font, size, close current tag, close all tags. Not one of those was spoiler.
well now I know, so I'll use it from now on... I guess...
You have an apostrophe in your spoiler. And no, I am not practicing to cosplay my former avatar and I am neither psycho nor psychic ~.^

I've just had that coding problem more times than I can count. This particular form of spoiler text is ruined by the use of apostrophes in the spoiler or the button itself. Watch out for words like "I'm," "he's," or similar constructs.

Actually, I did ask for a spoiler, it's just that what was in the spoiler was a bit confusing to me . . .

Oh, and sorry for quoting the spoiler without the warning . . . I have revised that . . .

I have seen DNAngel, though not liking, it is in America. You could do a search on ebay.com or other places, but I'm pretty sure that it is out in America.

As for Inuyasha, I'm not for sure on that yet. The series has been out on TV for a long while, but I have not seen either of the movies. Very sorry.

Some episodes of Inuyasha are legally out here on 3 episodes per DVD, but the movies aren't. I think about 7 or 8 of the DVDs are out now, but I'm not sure.

DNAngel is NOT out in the US yet and if you have seen it somewhere in the US, it was an illegal bootleg. You may have gotten it confused with DNA^2, which is a completely different series. I recommend checking out some info on DNAngel at http://www.animenewsnetwork.com, http://www.animeondvd.com, or another reliable source for info (though ANN is unfairly baised against certain anime series) because I have seen misleading info here WAY too often.

I would also recommend NOT searching Ebay or using it as a source for info for which series are available in the US. They get MANY bootlegs. For some good sources of info on official releases, I recommend http://www.pioneeranimation.com (soon to be http://www.geneonanimation.com), http://www.advfilms.com, http://www.centralparkmedia.com, http://www.bandai-ent.com, http://www.media-blasters.com, http://www.manga.com, http://www.tokyopop.com, http://www.an-entertainment.com, http://www.viz.com or a website of another official US anime distributor.

However, according to Anime News Network, DNAngel has been lincensed by ADV, so it will be coming here.

Flipped through Love Hina at the stores and it has way too much fanservice and the like in it for me. Inuyasha is alright. I like Sango! ^_^

From what I can tell, the Love Hina anime has much less nudity/fanservice than the manga. I haven't seen or read the whole series yet, though. I have the first DVD, and I liked it. I hear there's more fanservice in the later volumes though.

As for InuYasha, I've seen it on CN and I like it.

I've watched all of Love Hina and maybe it isn't as bad as the manga, but it didn't seem fanservicy to me. Keitaro (the main character) is simply a klutz and the girls can be a bit dense if not irrational, and it makes for a great bounce.

If you guys want to check it out, Nullsoft has it streaming on Winamp (subbed), at least eps 1-25, you'll have to find the x-mas special, spring special, and love hina again 1-3 somewhere else (they run in that order)
