Well, lets hope that all of the series is available to see before they release the sequel. :) (which the movie is - a sequel to the series, as I understand it).

The final DVD and movie will be released on the same day.

Note to FMA fans: the movie really isn't too great, but if you absolutely need more FMA, there's your fix.

Not being an FMA fan in the first place I was hoping for something a little bigger announcement wise. The movie was pretty much a given considering the popularity of the TV series.

I'll probably view this eventually. If it comes out in theaters I doubt it, unless there is some sort of social event to see it here.

That is essentially what was said. The movie is the "sequel" to the series.

It does, just not too well. The ending was dissapointing for me. Plus the mega plotholes and random character and random storylines that don't logically fit. It wasn't really a well-wrapped ending.

It is for those reasons that I strongly support the manga. I'm reserving judgment on the anime until I have seen all of it (as I am moving at the Adult Swim pace) but so far I have thought it much worse than the original version. Hopefully the manga will have a better ending.

I personally considerd the movie as two steps forward one step back. They solved a lot of stuff that the series left you hanging with, and you find out what happened to a few of the characters, as well as seeing some of the old characters again. But it also manages to leave you hanging with a ton of new stuff. But I was happy to just see (and hear since they got the same voice actors) some of my favorite characters back in action again.

Personally, I liked the movie-- and I haven't even seen it en English yet, so mind you, this may not be quite what I really think about it once I fully understand it. When I was watching, I had no subtitles, and I kept having to pause because I had to catch some words again...I'm just learning Japanese, afterall!

Anyway, I think that the movie, while very good, needs some improvement...it left out a few things that could have very easily been fixed, and some not quite that way... ^^; but either way, I liked the movie.
