Hey, that's a great list!

Calling all Callies ... we have to get a group together for either Comic-Con in San Diego, or one of the Orange County cons. I could even be talked into one of the Northern Calif ones if we could get some interest.

Probably Anime North this May, as along as it doesn't conflict with ICASSP.
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

Hey, cool, they've got the Persacon listed. I am hoping to go there this spring depending on if I can afford and where I am at the time.

It's the opposite of a pro of course! ;)

Ahem. Con is plainly short for convention, so anime con would be anime convention. In anime conventions there are alot vendors that sell their merchendise, cosplay contests, presentations, sometimes bands, announcements from companies like Viz and ADV and... that's all I can think of. I'm sure there are more to add to the list, but that's what I know of off the top of my head

I've been to one UK anime convention last year, this was Wildercon:
http://www.wildercon.org.uk

Wildercon is "unusual" in the way that it involves camping out. It's a great con, I really enjoyed it and would highly recommend it.

Here are some hotel cons, I'm considering attending some of these. I'll definately be going to wildercon again next summer.

http://www.ayacon.org.uk/ - I was very disappointed about missing this, as it was one of the best anime cons the UK has seen (they had Fred from Megatokyo over and stuff). There may be a 2004 one.
http://www.minamicon.org.uk/ - 12-14 March '04, booked up, but you can enter the waiting list (not much chance to be honest)
http://www.amecon.org.uk/ - I'll probably be going to this one. It's a summer con and they still have quite a few places. It's also quite big.

There are also a number of UK anime forums.. if you want some recommendations PM me :)

Hope that helps! ^_^

I'll be on staff again this year at Animazement. This con takes place in Durham, North Carolina, May 28-30. If anyone from here will be attending let me know. We'll get a group together and go out for some pizza and fellowship.

Anime Expo in California is the con I always make. I'm trying to make A-Kon in Texas as well. I'll have music videos in both conventions.

Anime cons for this year, hmmm...

Well, I'll be in Portland, OR, for school until May, so I'm planning to hit up Sakura Con in Seattle, WA (Fri. April 23rd - Sun. April 25th). Then while I'm home in Delaware for the summer, I plan to drive up to Baltimore, MD, for Otakon (Fri. July 30th - Sun. Aug. 1st). That's about it for now.
Peace,

Jose

I'm planning on attending ACen in Rosemont, IL (it's up by Chicago). It's a pretty good con and I've gone the last three years. Fred and crew from Megatokyo are usually there. If anyone else is going let me know.

sldr4Christ1985, that's the only con I know of in IL, though I think there may be one or two smaller ones.

I heard ACen is the biggest con in the midwest. A couple friends of mine who live in WI are always planning to attend that one each year.

Good site, didn't see Nekocon in Va Beach tho . . . its in Nov.

Anyone here go to cons in Virginia (or near there)? Maybe I can make Katsucon this year . . . I would like to . . . Tell me and we should get a group together!

To whoever asked what a con is, it is a gathering of sorts for anime fans where they show anime, AMVs (anime music videos), sell anime merchandise, have guest artisits and or voice artists, and cosplay, and all sorts of random fandom stuff. They're cool, but it can be intimidating to a newbie. (I was the first con I went to)

Yeah, Megami, ACen is a pretty big con, and a good one too, as far as I've seen the three years I've gone. And yes, an anime con can be an eye-opening experience the first time one attends. I felt out of place at my first con because I wasn't wearing anything anime-related (let alone cosplaying).

This July at AX will be my first time experience. Some of my other friends and I were planning to go as a group, but it doesn't look like it'll work out. A friend of mine from NC looks like he'll join me anyway. I was asked to attend ACen this spring but I just wouldn't have enough money.

I actually think I will have a better chance to make AMA (anime mid atlantic in Richmond, Va) Anyone going to that? Its in May . . .
I had an idea, (scary thought) someone should come up with a Christian run anime con! (hopes this isn't dumb idea) I think it'd be cool and all . . .
What do yall think?
