It sorta depends on the person, but...it CAN be disturbing to some people. The entire plot revolves around a bathhouse where Japanese gods, mythilogical creatures and spirts go to relax. There's river spirits, magic, dragons, a shadowy spirit that in one scene actually eats people...it can be very disturbing sometimes. It's all treated like a fairy tale, but...
That being said, I love Miyazaki's movies, so I also love Spirited Away (although I prefer Castle in the Sky and Princess Mononoke).
