Anime that you've seen because of this site

Postby Kaligraphic » Mon Jan 30, 2006 5:22 pm

What anime have you seen specifically because of this site, that you might not have seen otherwise?

I've seen:

Scrapped Princes (yes, it was a catastrophic fountainhead, thank you for asking)
Tactics (thank you, Kokoro Daisuke)
Fruits Basket (fear Tohru's humongous eyes!)

because of this site.
The cake used to be a lie like you, but then it took a portal to the deception core.

Hmmmm....

~Air (Definitely the best one from this site. :D )
~Magic Knight Rayearth (manga)
~Full Moon wo Sagashite (anime & manga)
~Fruits Basket (manga)
~Yotsuba&! (manga)
~The Miyazaki Films...I probably wouldn't have known they were on if not for the Anime Schedule thread!
~InuYasha (Technically. I had watched about 3 eps, and I would have stopped watching if I hadn't read that InuYasha isn't an actual demon, but an untranslatable youkai instead. XD)

And...I think that's about it! :thumb:

If it wasn't for Myoti, I would've never discovered the awesomeness of One Piece.

Hope (dragonshimmer) is the reason I started watching Full Moon wo Sagashite. :D

I watched Air because of Mangafanatic...but I won't hold that against her. ;)

All the Miyazaki films I have watched is because of the good things people on CAA have said about his work (and they were right, in my opinion ^^).

Also... Angelic Layer, Trigun, Fruits Basket, Cowboy Beebop, Hack//Sign, Gundam Wing, Last Exile...

...I hadn't actually watched much anime at all when I came to the CAA. Weirdly enough the CAA is what influenced me to watch Anime.

Tactics and Noir, specifically.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Jubei-chan and some others that I normally would have ignored since they were either shoujo or aimed at younger audiences such as CCS and Snow Fairy Sugar.

Jubei-chan is still one of my favorite purchases.

Fruits Baskets. And I'm quite glad I did, too!

The eyes did freak me out at first. Imagine fitting Tohru with a pair of contact lenses!

Tsubasa: Resevoir Chronicals, thanks to SpiritSword, Spirit_Wolf, and the rest of the folks in the CLAMP fanclub thread. Excellent series.

I haven't watched them yet, but these titles are on my "Too Watch" List thanks to the buzz surrounding them here:
Fruits Basket - inspite of Ingemar's catpeople. *shivers*
Card Captor Sakura - I would not likely considered it before, but I am now likely going to get the uncut sub-tittled version of the show.

That's arguable, because I might have seen some of them regardless of this site, and then there are some that I took the opportunity to see mostly because of information obtained from members here. In any case, I undoubtedly watched Fullmetal Panic and Gungrave because of Psycho Ann.

MSP recommended both Aishiteruze Baby and Naruto to me and both have been great series.

Oh, and because I've seen many people here really enjoyed Full Moon wo Sagashite, I decided to download that, though I have yet to see it.

CCS is only available subbed. They changed the title to Card Captors for the dub.

- I got hooked on Noir thanks to this site.

- Not sure if this counts, but I watched an ep of Super Gals after reading the review (which is something I probably wouldn't normally watch).

- Last Exile ran shortly after I got digital cable so I probably would have watched it anyway. But I think all the talk about it here made it more intriguing.
Theme Scripture: Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. (Galatians 5:1)

And a verse for all us single folks: Do we have no right to take along a believing wife, as do also the other apostles, the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas? (1 Corinthians 9:5)

If it hadn't been for this site, I never would've been brave enough to watch NGE. This site also got me into Azumanga Daioh (the manga) and Voices of a Distant Star. I'm eagerly waiting til Friday so I can start watching RahXephon on G4.
