Has a specific date been set for the arrival of the PlayStation3? or is it still just listed as "coming spring 2006?"

No but it would probably be March, and only Japan at that. It's too soon and no playable demos have been shown yet. Fall 2006 is surefire for a US/European release. I'll be dissapointed if it comes out here in the Spring because that is just too soon and rushed games will be inevitable.

That`s rushed?! Even if it was american-made 360 came out way too early.

Tom...sometimes I wonder if you read the topics we're talking about the PS3 here. Considering that no playable games have been seen by anyone outside of the industry Spring would be too early for release of the PS3.

The general marketing spin is that it will come out in spring 2006. The rumor mill says that it'll either be buggy or delayed. This is one of those instances that I'm glad we're not getting the newest and bluest. (Sorry, I *HAD* to make that joke). The 360 debut in Japan was lackluster at best and a TOTAL bomb at worst. They are waiting for Sony to get the led out on this one. Honestly, though, sony has had some really bad press lately with a LOT of stuff, so debuing a buggy product here could REALLY hurt them in the US market. I look at it this way:

1. Microsoft releases buggy stuff that's cheap. I know it's cheap, I expect it to be buggy.
2. Sony is more expensive, but it works and has lots of games.

If Sony starts to be expensive and buggy, I'm going to have a hard time justifying buying their stuff.

It's the delicate balance... You'll never make a completely bugfree system (except for the Super Nintendo, which was perfection in every respect, and this is undisputable fact not an opinion, anyone who disagrees with me can lobby with their representative in Washington...) so it should be released soon, but at the same time, it's good to strain it out as much as possible... Gah... Balance is hard... Especially on irregularly shaped objects, and on irregularly shaped noses.

Yojimbo...somettimes I wonder if you think about my statements before assumming what they mean.

What I meant was you thought that was too rushed. I thought the next gen system 360 was too rushed.

Anyways, I`ve sceen screenshots for PS3 games but they are all sports. Which is good for me, but I like RPGs just as much and I would rather go with a system that makes moere RPGs than sports. Anyways...

I saw a screenshot for a game called Madden: The next Generation scheduled for a release on the PS3. I find that funny since Madden stated that their last game would be 2006. I doubt it was a hoax, because those graphics are sick!
