Any recomendations?

Postby ~BlueRose~ » Mon Jan 09, 2006 7:13 pm

Hey, so I've watched a few animes, here's the list, and who's watched them:

Toyko Mew Mew (Me and my sisters)
Mermaid Melody Pitchi Pitchi Pitch & Pure (Me and my sisters)
Parrelel Dual (Me, my sisters, and dad)
A little snow fairy named Sugar (Me and my sisters)
Spiral ~Bonds of reasoning~ (Me)

And at the moment we (My 2 sisters) are watching Princess Nine, and with my dad and my older (Out of the 2) younger sister, we're watching Nadesico (Which at the moment hasn't proven it's self to be "The best anime ever").

My family likes to watch animes that are not dubbed, we'd much rather watch it with subtitles then with it dubbed. Does anyone recommend anything that's for ages like, 13 and under? My two sisters are 13, and 10, and I'm 14. I have looked at many, but I wonder if anyone would know of any that would be good?

Thank you! :jump:

Petite Princess Yucie (good family)
Piano (good family)
Saint Tail (good family)
Seven Of Seven (except the last episode)
Sister Princess (good for sisters)
Someday's Dreamers (good for sisters)
Twelve Kingdoms (some mild language)

Well, I recently found this really cute subbed anime online called Kokoro Library. Granted, I've only had the time to watch the first episode so far, but it's really, really cute! :D The CAA review didn't mention anything objectionable in it, so you may want to give that a try. As for other cute anime...Um...Well, I can't really think of any for the specified age group off the top of my head, haha! If you're willing to go a tad serious (the art style is ADORABLE, but the series is super-sad later on), there's a fantastic anime called Air(TV) that you can find on torrent sites (I can't list them here, haha. PM me if you want a link or two, though. :D). Anyways, hope that helps a bit! Have fun watching whatever you find! :thumb:

EDIT: Wait, read that wrong. XD Are you just looking for cuter anime, or are you wanting some other, more serious ones too? Because if so...I can reccommend a few!

Magic Knight Rayearth. I've never watched the anime (plan to when I get money, haha), but the manga is very clean and REALLY good. I loved it!

Also, check out Full Moon wo Sagashite. The anime was just recently licensed by Viz, so you won't be able to find torrents, but the manga is out (up to vol. 4, I believe), and the anime should be out on DVD soon. This is a really fantastic one (I haven't finished it, but I loved it after I reached like, pg 5 in the manga, haha), but it gets pretty sad later on, I hear.

Also, if you're interested in Hayao Miyazaki's movies (like Spirited Away...Great movie!), then you can watch them in subbed and dubbed forms on Turner Classic Movies all this month, every Thursday. Nausicaa: Valley of the Wind and Castle in the Sky are playing this Thursday, so watch if you're interested, or if you get the channel! :jump:

RESEVior CHRONicle Tsubasa is also a great one from Clamp. The anime was recently licensed, but it should be out on DVD soon. What I saw of the subs was really clean, and the manga is also really good. So keep an eye out in your favorite DVD stores for some of these titles!

Thank you Rev. Doc, that's an awsome list. I'm surely gonna look those up. I've heard of....Fancy La la (But we haven't really looked that up all the way), and Fruits Basket (Most likley not gonna watch that due to the Zodiacs). Some names sound familiar too...hmm. Thank you! *bows*

And thank you Radical Dreamer for you recomendation.

Yeah, I know the Winx club. lol, very well. It is a good show for younger ones, it's a bit young for my little sis. though. :) Thank you though.

Definately, always make sure to look up reviews to any title you are seeking recommendations for. There will be some issues that only you can make the decision on no matter how good someone else might view the series. Kaleido Star is a good series, however, there is the use of what appears to be tarot cards. Language might be an issue for some while violence is for another. Look over the reviews here at CAA and other sites and if you ever have a concern make sure to make a thread about it and I am sure many here can answer your questions.

Ahhhh yes, the Hamtaro erra. Haha, my sisters and I went through that a while back. We have little figures, a game for GBA and a guide. Oh yeah! My youngest sister still has fun playing the figures! And funny, they just recently started playing the game again! ^_^

Scrapped Princess is another pretty good one, but check out Gypsy's review for the list of anything objectionable (I didn't see anything, but I don't know you're specific guidelines). I second the recommendations for Angelic Layer and Full Moon o Sagashite, and I've heard Tiny Snow Fairy Sugar is great.

Going over Rev Doc's list, I'd have to agree with:

Azumanga Daioh -- funny, one of the few anime I've laughed out loud at
Angelic Layer -- nice, touching
Fruits Basket -- funny, but a little more serious
Someday's Dreamers -- worth watching
Haibane Renmei -- this one can be a little dark, but it's the best thoughtful anime out there

Good luck!

Maybe I should have been more patient with Haibane. I watched the first episode and wasn't too entertained, so I put it on the backburner (at least temporarily). Maybe I'll give it another chance soon.

This thread's been helpful. Now I have a few more series I didn't know about to check up on.
Hooray for zero-G.

Lucky... most people i know get upset when they have to "read" to watch a movie :/

One movie I think you and you're sisters (and maybe even you're whole family) might REALLY enjoy in The Cat Returns^^ I love this movie (since I wuv kitties^^) and already seen it 3 times. A real nice one with like, NOTHING objectional in it. It's Ghibli, so of course it'll be good ;)

And I also suggest this week's Miyazaki movies on Turner (as others suggested) because Nausicaa and Castle in the Sky are real nice ones too^^

Lol! We DID see The Cat returns! That was a really interesting one! ^_^ And we love love love LOVE Nausicaa. But we hate hate hate HATE Castle in the sky! lol! The reason why we hate Castle in the Sky is because, me, my older younger sister, and our Auntie, stayed up till around 2 in the morning to watch this film (We love Miyazaki films), and we were jaw-dropped at the "feels like a cliff-hanger" ending. Oh gosh, I was so disapointed, seriously, I wouldn't stop moaning the whole rest of the night, and the next morning. lol!
But anyway, funny that you say that, cuzz we've seen all of those movies except Ghibli (Which I will go search for).

Arigato! ^_^

One Piece.
But not that piece of garbage 4Kids tried to give us. :p

The original is great, with good action, comedy, and, well, it's just plain fun!
A bit of violence and language, though, so you might want to check it before showing it to your sisters.

PM me if you're interested in seeing it. ;)

Somehow I don't think you'll find that movie, cause it's the name of the studio that made Cat Returns, Nausicaa, Castle in the Sky, and others. (See here for all their titles though to read up on^^)

Haibane requires patience because it unfolds so slowly -- but when you look back, there's almost not a wasted line in the entire show. Good luck!
