Do you ever act out what you are thinking?

Most of the time when I'm thinking over plotlines, characters, and battles if they are any, I make corresponding noises. I've actually become quite good at mimicking noises cause of this lol. Ahem... I also make wild gestures and other antics.

I kind of act it out...mostly just dialogue though. I say it out loud sometimes to get a feel for it. It sounds like I'm talking to myself when I do it...>.>

Heh, I'll sometimes replay memories of things I said (or sometimes things I wish I said), and then get into it so much that I either subtly act it out physically or verbally.

I've come to the conclusion that when we act out our thoughts, it is a natural process and shouldn't be nervous from it. The more we consciously, or subconsciously at that matter, focus our minds to something then the mind will try to emulate it with our bodies. Habits form this way.

I'm terrible at writing dialogue, but I think I should maybe act it out. Maybe it'll start improving - I know many writers do it.

You're darn skippy we can!! XD

I just caught myself doing it again, actually... I was recalling a reaction I had the other day when talking with someone, and I found my hand behind my head and a goofy grin on my face....

*Nods* It is a good way to get realistic sounding dialogue, and even better if you and another person acts out the scene.

Always. Sometimes I'm afraid someone's gonna walk in on me and think I need to be sent to the nuthouse. :P

On occasion. Generally I only do specific lines (sometimes repeating them several times) that I'm trying to get right or am uncertain about. Also, I realize that I have some corresponding gestures when I'm reviewing an action sequence, some of them that have little to do with the actual movements involved.

Oh and about people who would think you were a nutcase... what about if you are? Quite possibly, you are the only user on CAA, and we are all just puppet accounts you created and can't remember. You are effectively talking with yourself.

While I don't write my stories down on paper, I do write them in my head. I typically act out the scenes of the story I'm telling, speaking out the lines and pulling the facial expressions to the extent of shedding tears at sad scenes.

I'm pretty sure many artists/writers do that too, especially those in the animation field (as I've seen on TV). I wouldn't care what ppl may think. It helps me to figure out the script and get into the story, so I embrace this practice with open arms. XD

Sometimes I murmur thoughts to myself, to see how they sound, And my hands and facial exspression usually mimics the one of the character in my mind, like my hand will become fists or tense up clawlike, I do it unconsiously most of the time.

LOL, sometimes I do it in school and people always ask what I'm angry about.

Yeah, I do that sometimes, mostly when I'm having trouble with character interaction or how the dialogue or movement sounds/looks. Sometimes I catch myself making the facial expressions of whichever character I'm writing for at that moment. :P I'm a bit psycho, I think.

I usually write when I'm by myself, so I don't have to worry too much about people thinking I'm insane.

I only read out loud what I'm writing to make sure it flows well. It would be a good idea to act out certain bits (fight moves? etc) to help and explore the character of my... um characters. Thanks for the tips!

All the time. Once I was brainstorming in class or something and then I just started muttering. I don't even think it was all in English either...>.<

I also find myself turning into characters too. Heres an example:

Ruby: What would I do in this situation? No...what would a normal person do in this situation? No no no! Duh, wait, what would I do if I went through the same experiences and had the same attitude of this character?
*jumps up* <wierd accent> How dare you! I kill you dead!
<change voice> Now wait...let's talk about this...
<change back> Don't try that! You don't know what I've been through!
My Mom: *walk in* who are you talking to?
Ruby: ^.^; Uhh...noone...
My mom: O.o...Okay....

Always good fun. But lately I've been having more control and keeping it in my head which is dangerous because my head lies. It gave me the false idea that I had a great singing voice and that I have enough material to start and finish a six page essay research project in one night. (well I did...but then I forgot to save something which made the crappy essay useless...T.T)
