Hobbit Movie!

Postby Bobtheduck » Sat Dec 06, 2003 8:46 pm

Ok... I'm looking right now at a preview for the Hobbit... Yeah, that's right! A preview... I have no clue if it's legit... The scenes could be taken out of the LotR movies and other sources (including the pirated copy of RotK that's out) but some of it looked real... It said it would come in 2006, by Peter Jackson and with Ian MacKellan and Ian what'shisname and andy serkis...

Anyone else seen this? Is this for real?

I've heard it, I can't remember where now. Oh oh on TV! They said they were thinking about doing a prequel.
Maybe our mistakes are what make our fate. Without them, what would shape our lives? Perhaps if we never veered off course, we wouldn't fall in love, or have babies, or be who we are. After all, seasons change. So do cities. People come into your life and people go. But it's comforting to know the ones you love are always in your heart. And if you're very lucky, a plane ride away.

I know that a prequel has been considered, but that's about it.

I'll just have to make sure I read all 4 books at least before "The Hobbit" is released...

Ah, that's interesting. While I'd like to see a movie based on The Hobbit, it'd be a bit anti-climactic after the Return of the King.

Well, seeing The Battle of the Five Armies on a movie screen would be kind've cool.

A Hobbit movie huh?! Tha'd be cool! I read that ages ago and loved it even before I knew there was a Lord of the Rings trilogy. I think it would be excellent especially if it is done by Peter Jackson! He is so true to the originals and what Tolkein made it is great! Yeah it would be kinda lesser in the light of the LOTR trilogy but it is different so it would still be good none the less....

Somewhere recently I heard/read an offical acount from Jackson about the Hobbit movie. While he'd like to do it, aparently there are issues with someone else holding the rights to it or something. Maybe I'll get real ambitious and see if I can track down something solid.

That'd be interesting.

Meanwhile, there is one thing of the Hobbit I really want to see (other than some dragons): Gandalf shooting fire.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but you can see the Hobbit trailer by going here: http://www.lathamfilms.com/hobbit_teaser_steve_latham.mpg (just right click then, click save as)

Its a pretty big download, but is good. One note, it IS a fake, created from scenes of the Fellowship and a film called dragonslayers. There is no Hobbit movie being created or any ideas for one as of yet. I just hope that changes

A bump such as that, Gremio, is perfectly acceptable. You've shed some very important light on the subject, wrapped up the issue, and provided those of us who hadn't seem the preview a look at it. Good work.

Alright, just as long as it's not directed by Peter Jackson.
