Prettiest game?

Postby Midori » Tue Dec 20, 2005 4:33 pm

So what do you think is the most beautiful game currently available?
I'm sure Metroid Prime and Halo 2 would get a lot of mention, but what else?

Oh. Right. I forgot about that.

My sister recommended it as the "Best game of all time," then I immediately saw a Gamespot article that said it landed in the "top ten most violent games" along with GTA and 50 cent. So i'm like O.o

I'll probably get it for christmas, though my family is worried about my cousins (10 and 11) seeing me recieve it.

Anyway, I would say Metroid Prime and RE4 are the games that really bring out the Gamecube's graphical potential and make it more powerful than PS2.

The nicest-looking game I've ever played was Syberia 2 (Sad, I know...).

It was the sequel to Syberia 1.
...Oh. Um...It is an adventure game that came out a few years ago, it used pre-rendered backgrounds so as to fit a lot of detail into the surroundings of the game. But by standards now, it's probably a bit dated.

Xenosaga games are pretty....but you have to be a hardcore Xenogears fan to love it because you`ll be following the plot the whole time. Then again, alot of Xenogear`s fans were upset about Xenosaga`s crappy stories.

Chrono Cross. Those are the best Playstation I graphics I have ever seen. You can`t beat that. Best graphics eva! Of couse PS2`s graphics are more realistic but not better than Chrono Cross. There is a difference between good and realistic.

Here`s some screenshots for Cross:

That 50 Cent game IMO was a game that should only be purchased by 10 year old rap fans who think 50 cent is wkd coo, homie!

I remember Syberia. Those were pretty games (but hard! hard! hard!).

I still say Donkey Kong Country and Metroid Prime hit the top in some fashion.
And Half-Life 2, but that's different (You practically need a supercomputer to run it...).

For GBA, Gunstar Super Heroes. Going back a bit (namely, the Genesis), Alien Soldier was incredible.

Heck, anything Treasure does is good. Look at Ikaruga (well I haven't played it yet, but...)!

I think that one the most beautiful games for the SNES was Super Mario RPG. That pulled every last bit off the SNES' hardware.

'Course, I also think RE4 and both Paper Marios are works of flipping art...

Bad pun, perhaps? o.O

Eh, for PS2, I'm gonna go with Wild ARMs 3. Weird choice, ya? Well, the cel-shading in that game was gorgeous, and it looked absolutely wonderful. Maybe not photorealistic, but they were wonderful graphics, and worked awesomely.

For Gamecube, gotta go with Metroid Prime 2. Just absolutely stunning graphically.

Don't play Xbox, so I can't attest to that one.

I found Syberia to be among the most overated games I've ever played. No offense to you Syberia fans, I tried to like it, I really did, but even after several hours of gameplay, I just never was able to really get into the story. I was somewhat dissapointed, with it being hyped up so much. A solid game, just didn't manage to hold my interest, which is unusual for any game.

Off topic...

Anyways, I just remembered a game I played once called ICO. I never finished it (Sold it. Boy, I wish I hadn't done that...), because the needless battles frustrated me to no end, but the graphics were gorgeous.

I think that they're coming out with a sequel, too (which is even prettier ^O^)

If it's just a question of 'Pretty' I'd have to say some of the Myst games should be at the top of the list. Those things have some of the most stunningly realistic and beautiful graphics I've ever seen.

Um... Well, the Syberia games looks nice, but you say the Backgrounds are prerendered... i geuss they'd have to be... Anyhow, the games that I think are the prettiest are Resident Evil 4 and Silent Hill 3... You may not like the monster designs in SH3, but the humans were nothing short of impressive... It's the only game I've played where people have thought I was watching a movie for a few seconds... Ok, so that's not true... One person thought MGS2 was a movie, I suppose that's possible to think if you see any of the people from a distance... I mean, it's not hard to make a realistic ship... I'm talking about closeups, in the middle of dialogue... Someone watched me play SH3 for like half a minute and said "Wait... This is a game?" Heather is the best CG human ever made, IMNSHO... Except for maybe Cid on "Spirits within" That's because she was flawed in a natural way, and still beautiful... Beauty in my opinion is not possible without "flaws" That's why I hate makeup and despise plastic surgery for anything other than reconstructive purposes after an accident...

For everything else besides the humans, though, RE4 is the prettiest game out there that is still entirely 3d...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evcNPfZlrZs Watch this movie なう。 It's legal, free... And it's more than its premise. It's not saying Fast Food is good food. Just watch it.

No mention of MG3? That game was like....drool inducing. Consider this a vote for Snake Eater.

PFFT!!!! Haha! All.... fantranslated and stuff

that game did not own! Seiken Densetsu 2 was better than 3! (errr i lied, it didn't)

but Final Fantasy 6 is the best SNES (and RPG) in existence! Why? Because I said so

if you want a game with real people in the cinematics, play Jedi Knight Dark Forces II

Now for some Half-Life 2 goodiness (note that some are pictures before the game release)

Panzer Dragoon Orta was pretty much relentlessly beautiful, with the stages being an almost perfect match with the music, a true artform of a game in my opinion indeed.
