wireless connection problem

Postby Slater » Thu Dec 08, 2005 8:00 pm

I'm having a problem with my computer's wireless card. I was sitting at my computer doing virtually nothing (I think I was watching a DVD) and suddenly I got a message that my wireless network was unavailable (I think. I reset my computer and then it was no longer detecting the card at all, nor did it say I was able to connect to wireless networks. So I looked behind my computer and my card is still there, but the little green light that blinks to show that it is sending/recieving data was not blinking and its antenea was knocked out of its usual placement (I think my cat did that today when she rushed behind my computer). WinXP said it was detecting new hardware, and I plugged my wireless software in so it could install the drivers but WinXP said that the drivers for the hardware weren't on the disk. I even tried downloading them on this computer and transfering them to my computer with a thumbdrive. Still, none of this worked.

so, does anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix my card? no, there is no spyware or viruses, I checked. Firewall is down too. Can't add wireless network cause Windows doesn't detect that compatability.

fixt. seems that my cat physically unplugged the network card oh-so slightly from the motherboard... had to plug it back in.
