I tried to show this at an anime club (at a Christan school) once and nobody could get past the first few episodes. I decided to give the series as a whole some thought, and the above is the conclusion that I came to. It's like me telling the author that they should avoid Inuyasha because of the demon issue, yet I personally enjoy Inuyasha.

Try Rurouni Kenshin. It's not "fantasy" so there aren't supernatural beings (including gods)...some near-nudity like shoulders and bare-chested men at the hot tub scenes but it's an extremely clean series.
