All of you saying what you saw didn't make sense...if you start watching something halfway through the series, of course it won't make sense. It's like buying a book and starting in the middle.

Akira. This was the "Must see" title everyone had to have seen practically under penalty of law. I found it very pointless and uninspired. Probably helped secure anime's "Ultraviolent" label.

Ghost in the Shell. What's the best way to take a witty comic and ruin it? Get Mamoru Oshii to direct it. He removed out the wit and the action and the frequent Shirow theme of military as family and created a snoozefest (I fell asleep watching it the first time)

^_^; I never could understand why everyone thought FLCL was so funny. I got a couple of chuckles, but I definitely don't think it's the funniest thing ever.

Voices of a Distant Star - Everyone said how amazing it was. Granted, it was very impressive that one guy did all of it. The whole story and everything was a real bore for me though. On the bright side, I did enjoy the short "She and Her Cat" on the DVD.

Ranma 1/2..I just didn't think it was as funny as everybody says it is..

Inuyasha..I really, really don't understand why people call it "the best anime every!" It was to repetative for my tastes..

I don't think I've seen quite enough anime to judge anything else, but at least from what I hear I'd go with stuff like DBZ (which I have seen) and Inuyasha (which I haven't, but plan to anyways).

Actually, I've gotten to where alot of them don't seem like much to me, mostly since I tend to like the more unique storylines and "cartoony" style (i.e. One Piece, Full Metal Alchemist, MÄR).

And why hate on One Piece? I can understand if you don't like the art style, but to say it's "boring"? I also hated the way it looked when it first came out, but then I slowly got into it, learned about the original, and now it's my favorite.
And please, don't judge if you've only seen the dub, for obvious reasons. :P

Oh yeah, I forgot about that one. I started to watch it. I got bored and fell asleep, and also have no desire to give it a second chance :\

I'm sure the manga is like a bajillion times better though

The manga IS a bajillion times better. You should read it. :]

*hits up oldies* Dragon Ball Z and Sailor Moon. Those got WAYYY overrated.

DBZ in a nutshell is - OMG! That dude has the HIGHEST POWER EVAR! And he's come to destroy Earth! O NOES! What shall we do! Krillen then dies and the Dragon Balls make everything OK.

Sailor Moon in a Nutshell - Whiny Teen with bad study habits and her friends defend the World from the Negative-whatever, which likes draining energy from Humans using whatever popular thing Sailor Moon is into. Yey. This happens a bajillion times causing tension between her and her love interest Tuxedo Mask...

The fact that Pokemon and Power Rangers are still around never ceases to amaze me.

Oh whatelse....

FLCL - That is just one big "What were they thinking? O.O"

I never got into Gundam, but I did really enjoy Full Metal Alchemist; more than I thought I would.
