I just got my very first manga!

Postby Tommy » Sun Oct 23, 2005 4:16 pm

Usually, I just borrow them for my friends but yesterday I got my first manga at the kingston Mall in Massachusetts in Borders. it came in plastic wrapping with a Naruto bookmark concealed in it...Did I mention I got Naruto Vol. 1?! It`s basically on the same appropriate scale as the show except for mild blood, mild language, mention of certain "parts', and the clouds surrounding the Ninja Centerfold (aka Sexy Jutsu) are ahem....thinner. Would probably just make it to Adult Swim if it was kept with the manga.

I also read One Piece Romance Dawn as well. The Manga is way better than the Dub Show. no more corny theme song and people actually DIE!

Yes, manga is addicting. You get more from it than you do from the anime based on some of the titles.... Like Hagaren. <insert dreamy eyes here> That should be the next one you pick up if you haven't read it already.

(Issue 12 is already out, chapter 53 out in Gan Gan in November! Argh! Stuck in the U.S. still waiting on volume 5!!! *Faint*)

I`m only planning on collecting Naruto.

Does anyone know if Dragonball Z manga has "bad" stuff in it, cause Dragonball sure did. When i say bad i mean nudity or discussion of Sexual contenet not violence or blood unless the blood is very gorey.

I'm not a big manga fan, but I've seen some of Naruto on Cartoon Network, and this is one of the manga I might actually try out. On the content of DBZ, I've read several volumes, and other than some language, blood, and nudity (young Gohan; no female nudity), it doesn't have much in the way of content.

I will say I actually thought the DBZ manga was better than the TV series. Partially because it accomplishes in one volume what takes 10 episodes in the anime.

One hears a lot of things about Naruto...

Just read some more Full Moon wo Sagashite. Still good. Not necessarily clean, from what I hear about the later chapters.

Usually the manga being better than the anime is the case. But sometimes it's the opposite! Just take the Cowboy Bebop manga for example-Doesn't even come close to the show!

Or usually the manga isn`t published by 4kids and comes out not for teenagers, but 4kids. Not necessarily Naruto, One Piece. I borrowed those from my friend. The cover of those is enough to block from the kid`s version. Besides the fact, they kept Mr. 20 and ms.sunday wears just as much clothing.

Congrats! I know there are some big Naruto fans in my anime club at school. (So, I hear it's quite a good series. Beware, lest you get addicted to manga ;) )

Many combolations, Elizagerth. It's about time you peeled yourself away from your RPGs and bought some reading material. ;) Really though, Naruto is a good one to start with. I also recommend DNAngel, Trigun/Trigun Maximum, and there's an un-numbered volume of Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo out now, too.

Congrats on getting your first manga! The Naruto/One Piece mangas are definately better than their CN counterparts IMO. Yeah, manga is just as addictive as anime. I don't buy that much though. When I have a job, it will be a different story. ^_^

You mean Mr. 2? He's in the dub, just... crappily done.
In the original anime, he was just a ballerina instead of an "okama".

And Ms. All Sunday wore the same clothes in the dub (proof that 4Kids are a bunch of pervs).

I hope you are not refering to me. I read tons of stuff, just not all manga such as Text in RPGs, for example.

Just kidding, I read novels, and I have read tons of manga that was just the first one I ever got to own. Who is Elizagerth?
