I was wondering if anyone would mention G -Saviour!!
(what I really need is a barfing smiley!
)
But I'd disagree with you on the Power Rangers association, YK. Is G Gundam cheesy? Yes indeedy. But somehow that just adds to its quirky charm. The characters are well-developed, and the sense of devotion and honor and true friendship are really nicely done. And besides all that, it's just plain fun!
Where else can you see a giant robot that looks like a fish or a windmill??
But it also has some truly awesome mecha with very creative special attacks. And it does have quite a few moments that grab at the heartstrings. I would also put G Gundam at the top of the Gundam heap.
I haven't seen much of the earlier UC series. I tried to get through F91 and couldn't stand the boredom. The people and the mech were lifeless. I liked Wing, though I must admit I got very tired of Heero saying "I will kill you, Relena."
Wing Zero custom is one of my favorite mecha of all time. I liked Seed alright, except Flay's sexual antics ruined it for me. (Sorry, Mitsuki Lover!
) And the mech moved waaaaay too fast to really enjoy their movements. The launch sequences were the best parts of Seed. (Yah, I watch the silly shows mainly for the machinery.
) I've heard from my gundam-loving friend in Japan that Seed Destiny is much better. Can't wait to see it.
