It's pretty violent. And your best bet is to watch it and not try to analyze it afterwards. That's what happened to me. I have the whole series, but w/o the recap episodes. I'm planning on waiting like a couple of months or more before I sit down and watch it again.

The main issue is violence, and you should already have a fairly good idea of how much of that to expect from the first five episodes. There's also Tsuna's swearing, but I'm sure you're aware of that by now, also. Other than that, I don't remember there being anything particularly bad about the series--besides all the death and violence, that is.

As for the ending, there are different ways it could be interpreted. I initially had thought it was fairly depressing, but a friend of mine had a take on it that was, well, significantly less depressing.
Everyone dies. Afterwards, you see all of the characters walking around in an ordinary city. The insight my friend had was that they are living in our world, not the world of most of the anime; since their world is significantly darker than ours, being able to live out an ordinary life in our world is a positive change for them.
Overall the series is simply fairly dark. If that and the violence do not bother you, I would say to keep watching.
remember, whoever opens the gate to Paradise essentially remakes the world according to their own heart/strength. Thus, all of those scenes with everyone at the end could be viewed as the remade world, essentially being the world we know now. Kind of similar to RahXephon in that way :-)
But...
I thought Kiba didn't die. *Thinks back* Ok, maybe he drowned, but all I saw was wolf hair floating up to the surface of the water. What did that mean?
.

Drat! Missed the end very last episode because I fell asleep, but I've read about it since. Anyway, yeah, its pretty dark. Everyone dies, and the whole world is recreated. Personally, I always thought of that as a sort of evolution support. You know, the 'big bang' theory and what not? World ends, recreated, history repeats, or something stupid like that.

Anyway, violence and language have already been mentioned. There is a little indian 'theology' (we'll call it that for lack of a better word at the moment) in it, and beginning of the dying world was created by wolves, who created humans and lived with them... or maybe it was a false god created wolves who created humans... I'm not really sure. I was so not interested in that part, and it was really late at night, so I spazed out. That is a bunch of crap though.

There is nudity as well. Darcia's dead girlfriend is totally naked, but her very, very, VERY long hair hides the 'details'. Regardless of that fact, nudity is still there. And if you have it on DVD/VHS/whatever else, you can fast-forward through that.

Is it worth watching? Is any anime 'worth watching'? I mean, we watch things merely because it entertains us, not normally because we can benefit from it. I watched it, and I loved it. But I love wolves, so a story with wolves as the main characters appeals to my liking. And the fact that they can talk to each other and take on human form (though how they do it still confuses me. But if you try to figure out all that you may get a headache), it makes it more interesting than just watching wolves walk around.

But, it has an over all good plot line. I'd give the plot an 9/10. Its pretty original from what I know, and the characters are very likable. Even if they have bad habits, you still feel sad when they die.

I like it. If you like wolves, you should like it. As for whether or not you should continue watching it, that's your decision. If you don't like what's been said and it bothers you to watch it knowing these things, the don't. But be aware of the bad points so you don't 'like' it too much.

You should probably have spoiler tags around that first paragraph.

I thought the most interesting part of the show was the two human men following after the wolves. I love how devoted the one was to his wife, even after divorce.
