My Anime Show Idea

Postby Tommy » Tue Aug 30, 2005 3:24 pm

People, I trust you now, but still, I must say: DO NOT COPY MY IDEA! I could hook up with some of you to help me make it.

Before I begin, I woldl ike to announce an idea I have for an anime series that I completely planned out. Heck, I even have have a sequal show planned out. The art Style would need to be by the guy that made DBZ, I have no idea how I can hook up with him since he lives in Japan. My main character would look like Vegeta only shorter hair, red trenchcoat, uses guns, wers shades, and has a cooler persnality. I can`t tell you his name. I don`t trust many internet people.

I have a title in mind but I`m not sure if it`s taken or not. I`m gonna put them in a spoiler tag for reasons only I am aware of.
TriSaga
Good name?

I don`t wanna describe the plot that much since I might be copied, but there is a threat of Apocolyptic creatures coming to invade the planet and only one man is aware of it. He takes random humans and turns them into ultra-stronger-than-Goku-mutants. Although, an evil man invades his lab, kills him and tries to delete the project by programming all the mustants to kill each other. The Main character is the only one left unprogrammed and amkes a daring action-packed escape that you would normally see in an action movie. I have pride this show will turn more people to anime.

Having an idea is good and all; but the way the anime/manga system works in Japan make it virtually impossible (especially for foriegners) to initiate the creation of a series just by an idea; even a well planned out one. A lot of anime is based on manga that studios take note of and attempt to pitch a series. For other series' you have to nearly be a studio executive to get anything started. It's not really as simple as having 'connections.' Also consider that in a best case scenario, a studio takes your idea for a story and makes it into anime; they own it, not you. You would have very little control over the story and they could do whatever they wanted pretty much with the rights. <-----This is the reason that the same manga/anime series may be often radically different.

That doesn't mean you should get discouraged and toss your idea in the trash.... you might just have a great story that no one will ever get to experience just by tossing it. You may consider adapting it to other mediums instead of anime.

But hey... if that's your goal... more power to you. Just to give you somewhat of an idea of what you are up against; here's some more info: *this link specifically is talking about manga, not anime, but it still can be a very insightful read* http://www.sockfairy.com/scott/animinjp/manga.htm

Also, no offense or anything, but the way you describe it makes it sound like you're simply ripping ideas from several different shows. Try being a bit more creative with your ideas.

So your character looks "cool", but he sounds cliched. Find a more unique of doing him.
Also, guns have been used in many a show before, so you'd need to think of something more. Maybe that the gun has certain special abilities?
And it'd be best to think why he's the only knows who knows about the aliens.

Also, you should think a creative reasoning for why the aliens are invading.

I think the article Azier posted stated several points about breaking into the anime/manga industry better than I could have ever stated it. At this point you're probably going to need to stop thinking about getting your story animated and focus on planning - plan, plan, plan. Make outlines of the characters and the roles they're going to play. Chart the character's personalities, strengths, and weaknesses. Outline your plot and carefully chart out the world in which your characters live. Write down EVERY idea you have about this particular story, from the culture and surroundings of your characters to the science involved in creating the protagonist and the world in which the aliens come from. Record everything, even if it seems stupid, and organize your ideas later.

Sounds like a lot of work? Heck yes it is, but realize that every book, movie, tv series, anime series, and manga starts out with a concept that needs to be almost fully developed before any real production/whatever begins. Know where you want to go with this, what points you want to make, and how you want your characters to grow. If, by any chance, you ever do get the opportunity to get this animated, naturally the producers are going to have to change some points, but having a full story and characters gives you a much better chance of going anywhere with this.

Couldn't have said it better, Kokoro.

I've been working on and changing several different ideas for future video games, and I'll probably continue to do so up till the time I release them. If you truly plan on entering that kind of market, be prepared to have everything you planned end up changing (hopefully for the better).

I will not repeat comments already made. I will also make an effort to be constructive.

So far, it sounds like you have a set up... what is your story? The character escapes the lab... and what does he do? What drives him? Why did the first scientist know about the previous monsters? Why did the evil man want to stop the project?

... uh...

I don't mean to be obvious, but I think this was meant as a joke. One of those flying over the head jokes... but still a joke nevertheless, unless it isn't one. If that is the case...

I'm deeply sorry.

If so, I totally missed it. But I'm somewhat bad at dry humor IRL; so I wouldn't be surprised.

Ok I actually have three series planned out. Ever episode written down. About 900 episodes altogether.

TriSaga
TriSaga Unlimited
TriSaga X

i even decided who I`m gonna pay to use their hit single as a theme song. No company is taking ver my idea.

I have everything already organized. he escapes from the lab and a heck lot happens. How about 30 DBZ-style sagas. And I bleieve this will top DBZ. i`m serious. My friends read the novelazation to every episode and they think it will crush shows such as:

Naruto
One Piece
DB Anything
Zatch Bell
Samurai Champloo
ect.

I already know the personality of each character. Every enemy locked down. Even full-legnth movies. Don`t mess with me. The theme songs would be...

"Fist of Fire" - Staple, Trisaga
"Go"- Comman, Trisaga Unlimited
"In the End"- Linkin Park

Obviously at least three of the above artists won`t agree to do it. i have secondaries. I didn`t want to reveal the main plotline because I didn`t want it copied.

The aliens resemble humans and they are coming to Earth because a black stone reesides there that has the ability to unleash the ulimate evil.

Yeah, seriously dude, NO company is going to finance 900 episodes.

They would most likely force you to work in the constraints of one season, 26 episodes (give or take). If the show did well, you could make another season. That's how the TV world works, is seasons. Do good, you get another season. But they're not going to sign you for 900 episodes right off the bat.

So you might want to think about shortening your episode count.

I mean, seriously...Sailor Moon had 200 eps, and that was pushing it. Simpsons hasn't even reached its 500th episode, and it's already getting stale.

EDIT: I see your last post. 300 is still too much.

300 can work, if you actually plan on doing this, but you'd be hard-pressed to make them good, stay good, and be consistent.

I don't think any of my anime ideas would reach even 100 (though I'm not sure I'd ever get them on Tv or anything...). One was 52, one 26 (Solar Cycle, in the Writing Section), another could probably work in about 12 or 13. Then I had a couple slightly based off some of my video game ideas, one proably 26 and the other maybe 52.

Kind off topic, but I think the only real reason One Piece managed to stay good after so many episodes is because Oda is a loon. I'm serious. @_@

It`s set up like DBZ. i mean 300 episodes all three series combined.

Truthgone: 10 episodes would never cover this series.

That was probably done due to popularity and they didn't need to do that many to start with. There were several episdoes they could have cut down or out completely.

You'd be surprised...

Tis the truth. DBZ dragged stuff out much longer than was actually neccesary. You could have easily cut 100 episodes worth of content out and it probably wouldn't have affected much.

Tom think about this you are fourteen years old, inexperienced not saying I'm better. But no real anime company would finance 300 episodes. And most people wouldn't watch either check the long and short thread. No one wants to spend that much money. And your anime seems like a rip off DBZ to me. But that's just me. You do what you want to do.

Try and plan 100 effective and good episodes for a series. I have enough trouble coming up with 26.

...Red trenchcoat...+ guns...+spikey hair...+ "Tri" in the title...=...Sounds a lot like Trigun. XD But I know you hate that show, so why would you want to copy it...? Veeeery interesting....

Yes, I've mentioned that before. You kept saying it had these styles and looks that appear to be ripped from preexisting characters. I'm not trying to put you down, but that's honestly not a good thing. Try to do something that hasn't been done.

You can check the thread I made about my own to hopefully see what I mean.
