Ouch, 8/10 on Bad Religion? ...As for the same sex attraction, I hear the Shaoran/Yukito thing is explained later, and as for Tomoyo, though she seems to adore Sakura, she acts all dreamy and blushes at alot of things, Sakura or not. That's just her personality. Besides she supports Sakura getting together with Yukito. So unless there's anything going on later in the show that I haven't seen yet, I don't get the 8/10 rating.
CDL, you said the music wasn't all that exceptional, and I would have to disagree. There were some Maaya Sakamoto songs and so many spectacular songs that were memorable from the series like "Catch You Catch Me" to name one. I have the Theme Song Collection and its got 12 great songs. I would have given it much higher praise for the music.
I also wish you wouldn't have claimed the Clow Cards in the same catagory as Tarot cards. I'm sure they were never seen as anything like Tarot Cards except maybe a similar shape. But then, how many different shapes can you form a card set? These cards had creatures inside them which Sakura had to capture and never foretold any future events or even changed future events. They had nothing to do with the occult.
Overall, I agreed with your basic anime overview of the story. Its just sad that it will now be seen as something much more dangerous than this clean and cute little anime it is. ( -_-);;;
BTW, the Geneon gave it a 13+ rating. I have some of the DVD's.

To me the rating I gave it was not in relation to the offensiveness of the material, but to the quantity and pervasiveness. The 8 rating is not intended to suggest that the show is unsuitable for Christians to watch but, more of a warning to be aware of the content that is there. I tend to rate things on the side of caution, keeping an eye out for whatever could reasonably be seen as offensive, even if I myself do not find it to be so. It's been a while since I wrote this, but I believe I tried to qualify the rating in the review by stating that a properly formed and educated Christian should have little problem identifying any troublesome elements in the show or recognizing it for being pure fantasy.
CDLviking wrote:Yes, Shaoran/Yukito is explained later on and I tend to discount Tomoyo/Sakura as a close friendship, but others may not. Also there is another relationship that comes more towards the front towards the end that is also troublesome.

yesAs for the other relationship you are referring to you, are you talking about

"Things that go on later"? Such as? I thought the show only improved as a whole as it went on. And I see in no way how the magic became "more occult" later on. It never felt different to me.
