I understand you completely, and, for that matter, understood you before. It's that understanding that I disagree with.

Ruroken wrote:but the christians know that there will be no peacefull end to this... they rather not fight, but will do what they have to to protect themselves... [elipse] the bad guys would just as soon as kill you anyways... so its a world whrere its kinda kill or be killed....

Unfortunately, what you've just described is hardly a pacifist stance. For those subscribing to such philisophic beliefs, there is no such thing as "kill or be killed."

It would be great if we were allowed to defend ourselves, wouldn't it? But Christ called us to "turn the other cheek." I wish you all good luck, but I cannot do the storyboarding.

On a side note, if you want to talk to me about anything other than Ruroken's manga idea, PM me. I'll keep this thread on topic any way necessary, including deletion of such tangents.

I encourage alterations to any story as it goes along. I only hope and pray that you are open to suggestions. Here's my thought and it's the same thing I shared with Lioness.

What is your ultimate Christian message in your manga? Just a reminder to many artists, the mission you're taking on as Christian manga artists, is NOT EASY since you're bringing God's message, not yours. Be prepared to kill your flesh.

Alright, with that said and done, here's my comment on your above statement. You can create an environment "Kill or be killed" (since that is how the world is today)....BUT in order to be effectively "Christian", your characters must act differently from their enemies/ppl around them.

I say it's Ok to start with "misguided Christians" who are used to violence and go with the ways of the world (kill back or lash out in anger). BUT, you must indicate to readers that they are misguided and eventually later on, I strongly suggest that they will feel it's wrong eventually and repent(coz it's wrong of course!). That's called conviction and it's important if you want this story to be Christian.

I'm not saying it's wrong to have an angry violent character in your story. I have a main character in my manga (very slow moving project, haven't introduced yet... :sniffle: ) who's used to fighting to protect himself and loved ones and gets angry easily because he's been betrayed many times. But the difference in him (after he repented and accepted Christ) is he struggles to control his temper and learns that violence is not the way to go even if it costs his life.

Remember Jesus did not fight back when the soldiers hurt and mocked him. Will we do the same? Hope this helps. :thumb:

I strongly believe that you, Lioness and any aspiring Christian artists is going to learn alot from this so let's keep working hard!

Amen; that's what I mean by clarification. That's also what would make me continue to work on this project.

The only problem I see with this would be how to do a proper climax, but we could probably fix up a fight between the main characters and some physical manifestations of demons. That'd be properly climactic. The question is how much you're willing to change this story.

Then I have a question to ask you: Would you be willing for your story to reach a point in which your Christian characters will confess their methods are wrong and will cease to physically battle their opponents?

If the answer is yes, I'm with you.

On another topic, it might not be best to call the bad guys communists. That could make some people angry.

well of course! i never said i wouldnt do that in the first place. beofre you ever say "no" to something ask! *sigh* I probly couldnt do this with you... I duuno, you seem kinda qiuck to judge sometimes. I never planned on having at least the main character stay angry or violent, just doesnt work that way... besides it's too *early* to judge it.

well ive een how that country's falling now. Into communism. Therefore that's the how the government is 600 years from now. If that makes people angry then we should do someing about it. I hope this isnt how our county ends up.

I asked you in the original situation if things were going to change. My apologies if you didn't get that message. Then I got this, which only further compounded my apparent confusion:

Ruroken wrote:the bad guys would just as soon as kill you anyways... so its a world whrere its kinda kill or be killed....

Do you see how if I'm still in a state of mind in which the story does not change, this appears as if you're completely denouncing my ideals? All this could have been cleared up if either one of us had been more clear.

As you have currently described your story direction, I have no problem with it. The characters begin as they currently do, with their current anger/violence problems. Over time, they work through these problems. Eventually, they get to the point of not fighting back, and [now this is mine alone] we introduce new plot devices such as demons or something.

Unless that's an egregious misrepresentation of what you intended, we can get started.

Alright. Your story.

The only reason I brought it up is so we can have a climactic action scene. If you really aren't wanting to have that type of series, then so be it. I really don't have a problem with that.

Speaking of the series... where are you going with this? You've spoken as if you have an outline, is there anything you could share about it without revealing too much?

I kind of understand why UC wants demons. (I think.) Because as christians, we're opposed to violence and should not be fighting one another. And to live like Christ, we should just turn the other cheek to our enemies as well. So in order to have a climatic fight scene, you would need the good guys to be fighting some sort of "pure evil."

Am I close, UC?

HondaTooru is absolutely correct as to my reasoning... but Ruroken is going in a different direction, so we're going to follow.

Actually, I very strongly agree that you cannot really fight demons physically... but given as this is a manga, we're allowed a bit of leeway. If said demons were allowed to take on a physical form (for some reason or another...), you could kill the physical shell, though that wouldn't stop the demon.

What I wonder is what that (

Ruroken wrote:but remember there's no victory without suffering remmber i thnk david when through and killed every man woman and child but disobeyed when he let one live...

) means. I'm just asking for clarification about your exact intentions.

Actually, we're talking in circles here, and I'm not helping any. No demons.

Question: Where are you going with the overall series?

Question: Will there be a climactic action scene? If so, who?

I understand UC's demons, also. THere are demons in my story, becasue to know the light we must also see the darkness. I WILL NOT, however GLORIFY the demons. Something you should think about is that if you come up with a great character sketch, and make them seem appealing, (ie, making them beautiful, perhaps even love interests) people reading could be attracted to the darkness.

Also, I pray for you in this time of working on your Manga. I know how hard it is.

Please pardon spelling errors, and other such things because i am in the grips of a fever that makes me clumbsy.

quistion! in your manga do you want the art style to look more serious like "Ruroni Kenshin" or more fun like "Card Captors" or ".Hack"?
